About This Pub

Ah, The Jericho – it's one of those classic Oxford pubs that just draws you in with its welcoming charm and that unmistakable British pub feel. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by staff who seem genuinely chuffed to see you, always up for a chat and dishing out top-notch recommendations on beers or cocktails. The food's a real treat too, with hearty options that pair brilliantly with their rotating craft brews, and don't even get me started on the beer garden – it's a hidden delight, all tucked away with those quirky booths that make it feel like your own little haven on a warm evening. The live music adds such a fun, energetic buzz, especially with its long history of hosting gigs, making it a brilliant spot for catching up with mates or enjoying a lazy lunch. But, to keep it real, there have been a few moments where service hasn't quite lived up to the hype, like that one review mentioning a less than stellar shift, so it might vary depending on the day. Still, with its prime location near the city centre and that overall homely atmosphere, it's well worth a visit for anyone looking for a proper pub experience in Oxford – just go in with an open mind and you're in for a treat.

Great pub. Good beer and a new manager, Jaden, who is very friendly and knows his business, having also been a manager here in the past I think:-) Pub garden with discreet stable-like booths.

I love this pub! The atmosphere and the history are amazing. The bar staff (especially Harvey, what a legend) are all wonderful. If I could Harvey 5 stars personally, I would. He let me pay for his drinks

In a rather astonishing display of ‘how not to run a bar’, Sam somehow managed to make himself look like he’d stepped into his first day as a failed GCSE hospitality worker, not only this; but in a jaw-dropping clown-show of ineptitude, he managed to single-handedly display how he’d be out of his depth running a bath. Never before have I witnessed someone so laughably Inexperienced in bar management. The other staff we encountered were excellent, so much so that we had planned to leave a glowing review, however this was abruptly ruined by Sam who (we can only assume wanted to close early) accused one of our party of being drunk. This was simply not the case. He wouldn’t actually state which one of us was ‘drunk’ as that would have meant justifying his childish, Trump-like behaviour. He then went off and hid. The staff were embarrassed and we were left bemused. It was bizarre. In short, Sam ruined a perfectly good evening because he wanted to go home. We spoke with the staff who all agreed that he’d quite clearly made a fool out of himself. It later transpires (one of the staff told us) that Sam was ‘in a bad mood as he wasn’t meant to be working tonight’, this was very evident. We’ll be speaking with the team at M&B on Monday to discuss this further, they clearly need to be aware that they have someone so laughably inexperienced representing them.

Just wanted to thank the amazing staff who (free of charge) replaced my son's burger after we accidentally put chili sauce on it instead of ketchup. It was incredibly busy but they were brilliantly attentive and welcoming. I have been visiting this lovely pub for years and the experience is always lovely 😍
