About This Pub
Ah, Dodo Pub Co., what a lovely little spot in Oxford – it's one of those places that just feels right for a casual get-together with mates. I have to say, the food and beer really shine through; you've got some solid choices on the menu, and it's brilliant to see options that cater to different preferences, like those keto-friendly dishes. The atmosphere is just charming, with all those old bookshelves adding a touch of character that makes you want to linger a bit longer over a pint. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – I've heard a few grumbles about portion sizes being on the skimpy side, and some folks have noticed a drop in quality for certain items, like the burgers that used to be a standout. Still, it's got that classic pub charm going for it, and if you're up for a relaxed evening with decent drinks and a bit of atmosphere, it's definitely worth popping in. Just keep an eye on what you order to avoid any letdowns, and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food and beer selection is absolutely spot on – plenty of tasty options that hit the mark for a proper pub meal.
-
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with quirky decor like those early period bookshelves that make it a brilliant spot for a relaxed chat or even a cheeky photo.
-
They're open seven days a week with a good range of drinks and menus, including some nice keto-friendly choices, which is a thoughtful touch for different tastes.
Cons
-
Portion sizes can be a bit disappointing, like those chips that feel more like a snack than a proper side for the price.
-
Some dishes have seen a dip in quality lately, such as the burgers not being as brilliant as they used to be, which is a real shame for a go-to favourite.
-
Certain drinks might be missing, like no Guinness on offer, so if you're after specific brews, it could leave you wanting.

Good food. Good beer. The size of the chips was a joke. £5 for maybe only 10 chips.
The Bunless Big D in a bowl is Great,it is my 3rd time visit during my stay in Oxford this year. Some keto options are available from the menu, the atmosphere is nice and full of interesting early periods books shelf ,it is a very nice photo spot and it is a must have photo in Oxford. The wing is superb and the furnace control is great,Not over cooked.
Will definitely be back for next year's visit after the SWCP long hike return.
This used to be one of my favorite pubs in Oxford, but the quality has dropped recently…
I ordered a cheesy garlic bread only to receive pieces of cardboard bread with clumps of cheese on top. See the picture below.
I've been visiting and recommending the Dodo pubs for a good part of a decade for having one of the best burgers ever. Unfortunately they have now changed the patties and the burger (The Dodo) has gone from 'phenomenal' to 'just another burger'. I hope this is temporary as it was the main reason my friends and I visited frequently.
Good pub serving a good range of drinks, however , no Guiness. A suitable alternative stout was available.
