About This Pub
Ah, The Huntsman – it's one of those pubs in Bath that just feels like a warm hug when you walk in, with its beautiful old façade hiding a space that's both elegant and welcoming. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the team there really shine; they're attentive and go out of their way to make sure everything's just right, whether you're popping in for a bite or planning something bigger like a wedding. The food is a real highlight too – those pub classics with a fresh twist are spot on, and it's fantastic to see options for brunch or family meals that cater to all tastes. It's pet-friendly and family-oriented, which adds to that inclusive feel, perfect for a laid-back afternoon. On the flip side, though, it does get heaving at times, especially during peak periods, so you might find yourself waiting if you haven't sorted a table in advance, and there could be the odd little niggle with service on busier days. All in all, it's a gem worth seeking out if you're in Bath; I'd say give it a go for that mix of great grub, charming surroundings, and friendly service – you'll likely leave with a smile.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always going the extra mile, like sorting out a window seat or handling special requests without a fuss.
-
It's a top spot for events, whether it's a wedding, a family gathering, or just a casual meal; the atmosphere is spot on, blending that classic Georgian charm with a modern vibe.
-
The food is spot on, with refined pub classics made from fresh, seasonal ingredients – think delicious sharer plates, pies, and a lovely brunch menu that's available every day from 10am.
-
They're super welcoming to everyone, including families and dogs, making it a great place for a relaxed outing with the whole group.
Cons
-
It can get a bit busy on bank holidays or weekends, which might mean waiting for a table if you haven't booked ahead.
-
While the service is generally excellent, there might be the occasional minor slip-up, like with timings or small details, based on what I've heard from others.

We were delighted to have our wedding reception in the Elder Rooms of The Huntsman. A beautifully decorated room with the perfect ambience for our special day. Louisa and the team were brilliant from all the early preparations leading up to the wedding. Nothing was too much trouble.
We had the best day!! The food was amazing and everything on the day went without a hitch. Thank you to all the team for making our day so special !

Amazing place to grab a quick pint or to have dinner. I can recommend the Sharer plate.

We booked the Mezzanine area for 20 of us after myself and my partner got married at Bath Registry Office - everything was perfect, from the welcome drinks to the dinner and the communication from Louisa (Events Manager) throughout the booking process. The food was delicious and the staff were so lovely. We can't recommend this pub enough, we love it! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the whole team for making such a special day so perfect - we appreciate it so much.
Loved the place and the excellent service. We visited with our nieces and the dog, and all were welcome there. It was the bank holiday weekend so we expected everywhere to be busy but we did manage to find a table here. The spread of the menu was great and they have a kids menu. I went for the pie and mash which tasted good. The pricing was average.
Special call out to the gentleman who served us and found a table, he also gave treats to our dog. Highly recommended for a pub meal if you're in the area!
This is a real English pub absolutely loved the decor and the atmosphere. Nothing was to much trouble, we asked if we could have a window seat and that was no problem for the staff. My daughter asked if she could have extra gravy and again not a problem. Would definitely go back the only downside was they charge a service charge and this a pet hate of mine ! If I wish to to tip then it should be my decision not automatically put on my bill.
