About This Pub

Ah, The Ale House – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its welcoming charm and gets you hooked from the first sip. I've heard from folks that the staff are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making everyone feel like part of the gang, which really adds to the fun atmosphere. The drinks selection is brilliant too, with loads of tasty ales and beers at prices that won't break the bank, and you can stay late into the night enjoying things like magic shows that bring a bit of magic to your evening. On the flip side, it's an old building, so those steep stairs can be a bit of a hassle if you're not up for climbing, and it might get a tad bustling if you're hoping for a serene spot. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out in Bath, especially if you're up for some laughs and meeting new people – just keep the accessibility in mind if that's a concern.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of ales, beers, and drinks at really good prices – perfect for a cheeky pint or two.
  • The atmosphere is spot on, with great decor featuring pictures of Bath and a solid choice of music that keeps things lively.
  • Late-night openings until 2am or 3am mean you can enjoy a magical evening, especially with fun events like magic shows and comedy.
  • It's a cosy spot where you might end up chatting with new mates, turning a quick stop into a memorable night out.
Cons
  • The building is quite old, which means there are steep, winding staircases that make it tricky for anyone with mobility issues.
  • It might not be the quietest place if you're after a peaceful pint, as things can get lively with the entertainment and crowds.

We came here to watch Krowd Keepers magic theatre. It was a fun night with up close magic and comedy. It's not the best place for disabled people. The building is old with winding, steep, staircases.

Planned to stop here for a quiet one on the way home but had such a good time I ended up rather overdoing it 😂 the bartender was an absolute delight and she was so friendly and welcoming to everyone who walked through the door, and I'm sure that encouraged us all to talk to each other as well. I met some great people and had an unexpectedly amazing time - thank you!

Happy 10th anniversary to The Ale House 🥳🎈 Best local pub to hangout for a pint after late night work! A very friendly and cheerful land lady. Lots of ale, beers and drink choices. Great price too! Closed at 2am or 3am on most nights. Simply the Best! I love this place ❤️
