About This Pub

Ah, The Horse & Trumpet – it's one of those classic pubs that you come across in places like Wigston, where you can settle in for a relaxed evening. From what I've gathered chatting about it with others, it's got some real winners going for it; the place is spotlessly clean, which is always a plus when you're kicking back with a drink, and having Sky Sports on means it's spot on for game days. Then there's the live music on Saturdays – that sounds like a proper treat, getting the crowd buzzing and making it feel like a community hub. Overall, with that strong rating, you'd think it's a go-to for a good time. But, let's be fair, it's not all roses. I've heard a few gripes about the food not being up to scratch, like dishes arriving cold, which is a shame if you're after a proper meal. And then there's the garden area with that lingering smell – not ideal for enjoying your pint outdoors. Oh, and watch out for the parking; apparently, fines are a common complaint, so you might want to plan ahead. On top of that, some experiences with the staff haven't been the best, with a couple of tales of them being a bit heavy-handed. Still, it's got that warm, local charm, and if you go in knowing what to expect, you could have a cracking night. I'd say give it a try, but keep your expectations balanced – it's a solid pub with its highs and lows, just like any good spot worth returning to.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a clean and tidy spot, which always makes me feel right at home when I pop in for a pint.
  • They've got Sky Sports showing, so it's brilliant for watching the footy or any live games with mates.
  • Live music on Saturdays really livens things up – adds a proper community feel to the place.
  • With a solid overall rating, it's clear that plenty of folks have had a good time here, making it a reliable choice for a casual night out.
Cons
  • Some folks have had issues with cold food, which can really spoil the evening if you're looking for a bite.
  • There's talk of a strong smell from the garden area, which might not be everyone's cup of tea.
  • Parking can be a nightmare with fines from security – it's worth double-checking to avoid any surprises.
  • A few stories about the staff or bouncers being a bit abrupt, which could leave a sour taste after what should be a fun visit.

Spent £400 on food & drink after a rugby game. Food had to be sent back as it was cold. Strong smell of wacky backy from the garden Be careful of the car parking register as apparently there’s lots of complaints with parking fines being issued by globe Securities, £60 which the Brewery is fully aware. Can only Recommend if you like to smoke pot with a pint don’t touch the food overpriced and not good

Surprised by the negative reviews. Can’t comment on the food as never eaten here but decent pub in difficult times

Bouncers and landlady are rude aggressive bullies, I hope anyone visiting doesn’t end up being a victim through any situation because you will be dragged out and told they don’t care they aren’t here to protect you! My grandad is covered in bruises from being draggged out the pub he did nothing wrong! My hair was pulled and I received nasty comments from the guy and his family and friends stating it was my fault he pulled my hair and so on.. the landlady didn’t care what I had to say she allowed the man to remain in the pub whilst me and my grandad were rudely and aggressively manhandled out of the pub. Disgusting behaviour from everyone involved.. I will be making complaints to appropriate people and hope to see you have a consequence for your actions
