About This Pub
Ah, The William Wygston – it's one of those dependable Wetherspoons pubs that you can always count on for a straightforward, no-fuss outing. From what I've gathered from folks who've popped in, the food really shines; whether it's a classic breakfast that's served piping hot or a burger that packs a flavorful punch, it's clear this place knows how to deliver on the basics without any faff. The staff come across as genuinely polite and eager to help, which adds a warm layer to the experience, and being right in the middle of Wigston makes it super convenient for a quick stop after shopping or a catch-up with mates. On the flip side, it's got that typical pub chain vibe, so if you're after something a bit more quirky or personalised, it might leave you wanting more. Plus, while the meals are generally good value, they've got their off days where things aren't quite as tasty, and the smaller space can get a tad crowded when it's lively. All in all, it's a cracking choice for an inexpensive night out, but I'd say it's best for those times when you fancy something simple and reliable rather than anything extraordinary.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is spot on for a Wetherspoons – think hearty breakfasts and burgers that hit the spot, served up hot and quick, which makes it a reliable choice for a casual meal.
-
Staff are always lovely and welcoming, adding a nice touch to your visit and making you feel right at home.
-
It's in a great spot in the heart of Wigston, perfect for popping in after a wander, and it's open from early till late every day of the week.
-
Prices are dead reasonable, so you can enjoy a proper pint or a bite without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
It's a typical Wetherspoons setup, so it might feel a bit generic and lacking in that unique charm you sometimes crave in a pub.
-
The food can be a bit hit or miss – while some dishes are spot on, others might not quite live up to expectations, as it's your standard pub grub.
-
The place is on the smaller side, which could mean it's a squeeze during busier times, making it less ideal for a relaxed evening with a larger group.

Recent Reviews
Always love a wetherspoons breakfast and the food here is always served hot and quickly. Strangely it has a better selection on the menu than a few other places we have been over the past few months.
Been a long time since we have eaten here, and it didn't disappoint, my partner had Barbeque chicken. Melt, and said she would order this again as the flavor was so nice,
I had the buffalo Gourmet Burger, this was so nice the flavor just melted in your mouth from the Cheese, the spice taste gave you that satisfied warm tingling feeling that, really gave its warrant for. A 3 chill warning all in all a nice meal,
Leaving full and happy
Lovely staff. Typical spooners pub, handy for a bite to eat.
We visited The William Wygston in August 2023. A generic and traditional looking pub, but fairly welcoming from the outside with plenty of flowers and flower baskets. Inside the pub is small but well decorated, having been refurbished in 2015 and with plenty of seating throughout. Of special note is the huge metal dragon which stands at the bottom of the stairs to the toilet!

Great location at the heart of Wigston, the staff were very polite and friendly. It is a Wetherspoons and compared to others I like this one a lot, the vibe is pretty good. Food is the usual Wetherspoons food, which can be a bit hit and miss
