About This Pub
Ah, the Hop Pole Inn really stands out as one of those classic British pubs that you'd happily recommend to mates for a relaxed evening. From the website and those glowing reviews, it's clear they've nailed the real ale scene – with a rotating selection that's always got something new on tap, and even a nod from CAMRA as a runner-up for local pub of the year. The atmosphere sounds spot on too, all welcoming and cosy, whether you're popping in for a quiet pint or joining in on the fun with events like the pub quiz or vinyl nights. And let's not forget the food; their weekend offerings and Sunday lunches get plenty of praise for being hearty and well-prepared, making it a great spot for a proper meal. On the downside, there was that one review griping about a dodgy pint that tasted off, which is a shame and might make you think twice about what you're ordering. Plus, with it being closed on Mondays and food limited to weekends, it's not the most flexible for spontaneous visits. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're in the area and fancy a genuine pub experience – just go in knowing it's mostly hits with a few misses, and you'll likely have a brilliant time.

Camden Hells on draft tasted mouldy, like they hadn't cleaned in months!
Nice beer garden, close to town. I left after a few chuggs of my drink because it tasted foul.
This place has been approved dramatically. Always a good ale on now and the pub has more people inside. The food is great as well.
Great pub with a fantastic range of hand pulled beers. The landlord is very passionate about his beers. If you enjoy a good beer then you must visit the Hope Pole.
Nice proper pub. Great for 'real' beer and always a nice friendly atmosphere
First visit since lockdown, five real ales on tap Gravitas in good form. Ian has introduced sensible and well considered Covid controls.
