About This Pub
Ah, The Heron in Kendal – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its warm, friendly feel, especially if you're popping by after a walk in the Lakes. I love how they've got something for everyone, whether it's sinking a few pints in the beer garden on a sunny day or catching the latest match on the telly with all the Sky and BT Sports action. The pub games like darts and pool are brilliant for a bit of banter, and it's ace that they welcome families and dogs, making it easy for a proper get-together. The food's generally spot on too – those classic pub dishes hit the mark without being too pricey. On the flip side, I've heard a couple of tales about booking mix-ups or service not quite living up to expectations, so it might pay to plan ahead or give them a ring first. All in all, it's a cracking spot for a relaxed evening, and with that 4.3 rating, most folks seem to leave with a smile.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, with live music, quiz nights, and bingo that make every visit feel lively and fun.
-
It's super family-friendly and dog-friendly, so you can bring the kids and the pooch for a relaxed day out.
-
They've got a cracking beer garden with plenty of seating, plus free parking which is a real bonus in Kendal.
-
Sky and BT Sports are on the screens, making it a top spot for watching football, rugby, or Formula 1 with mates.
-
The pub grub is solid – think hearty classics and specials that won't break the bank, all served in a welcoming space.
Cons
-
There have been a few service slip-ups, like booking issues that left some folks waiting or disappointed.
-
Opening times are a bit late on weekdays, starting from 4pm, so it might not suit those after a lunchtime pint.
-
While most reviews rave about the food, one or two mentioned it wasn't always spot on, so it could be hit or miss.

Went to see my dad play his gig with the casinos band on Saturday what a lovely pub great atmosphere lovely staff
Lovely pub, went for first time with my partner and friend. staff are lovely, food was very good. Would defiantly recommend.
We planned a Sunday dinner with friends here. Booked and pre ordered our meal for 6. We traveled 100miles as we all live spread out so this pub was middle ground.
When we arrived we said we have booked a table under (surname) to be told "No you didn't" which was a great start.
We were left for an hour and 20mins with no food. We even cancelled the starter in hope it would help. The food we got was horrendous, burnt cabbage, full of salt and as the plates came out the portions sizes got smaller. Managment laughed at us when we said we were unhappy with the service and food and told us he was just covering and in short not his problem. He did apologise but over all didn't handle the situation as a manager should.
Rachel the bar tender/waitress was far more organised and helpful trying her hardest to try get things sorted.
But unfortunately the final straw was a further wait for the pudding which all came at different times with one containing part of the plastic container I presume it came in.
Rachel came to us and said they wouldn't be charging for the food and couldn't apologise enough. She was a credit to the place. Such a shame as we were all really looking forward to it. Unfortunately we won't be visiting again. Best wishes to Rachel, you deserve a raise with that type of management.
Cosy local pub, with plenty of space, tables spread out nicely so you're not sat on top of each other, and the central booths are great for that cosy feel... Good old pub grub, with a nice selection on the menu, and specials on each evening where you get 2 for £15/£20 etc... We've had the "fish & Chips" or should I say whale 🐋 & chips on a couple of Friday evenings now (or Scampi) which is on the 2 for £20 offer!.. Really too much to eat, really tasty and great value!
Would recommend for anyone to try 😎
