About This Pub
Ah, The Factory Tap – what a lovely spot it is in Kendal. From what I've gathered from folks' chats, it's got this genuine, down-to-earth charm that really hits the mark for a good pub experience. The beers are where it shines brightest; there's a cracking selection of traditional cask ales and all sorts of brews that keep things interesting, especially if you're up for those tap takeovers they do. The staff come across as genuinely helpful and chatty, creating that welcoming buzz with the regulars, and the beer garden is just the ticket for a relaxed afternoon. It's dog-friendly too, which adds to the homely feel. On the flip side, there was that one off comment about a staff member being a bit too stern over the smoking area – not ideal, but it seems like a rare blip in an otherwise positive crowd. And while it's a short stroll from the station, being a bit away from the hustle of the town centre might mean it's not everyone's first choice for a night out. All in all, if you're after a place with great vibes and solid pints without the fuss, I'd say give it a go – it's got that balance of being unpretentious and enjoyable that makes for a memorable visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of traditional cask ales and loads of options to try something new – perfect for ale enthusiasts.
-
The atmosphere is so convivial and welcoming, with friendly bar staff and regulars that make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
That beer garden is a real gem; it's got a great setup outside for enjoying a pint in the fresh air, especially on a sunny day.
-
It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with your furry friend, and the overall chilled vibe inside makes for a relaxed spot to unwind.
-
Being inexpensive means you can pop in without breaking the bank, and it's conveniently located just a short walk from the station.
Cons
-
There was a mention of one bar staff member being a bit cocky and overzealous about the smoking area, which could put a dampener on things if you're not careful.
-
It's a tad out of the town centre, across the river, so it might not be the easiest to stumble upon if you're exploring on foot for the first time.

Awesome beer garden and fairly good selection of traditional cask beers.
Such a convivial atmosphere in here with both the bar staff and the regulars. The beer was superb, the brisk walk back to the 🚂 station was 10 minutes. Do look look out for Tap Takeovers if you like to try something new.
Good public house, across river out of town centre. Good range of beers when I went just before Christmas. Dog friendly. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Lovely real ale bar in Kendall. Nice chilled vibe inside and good set up outside. Loads of ales on. I had half a pale as I was driving but it was full of flavour which is rare for a relatively low abv ale. There’s a curious work bench/table of some sort which is a mystery to the landlord. Pints on him if you can tell him what it was originally used for. Dog friendly and occasionally has food from pop up trucks. Recommended. 🍻 🤔
All fantastic especially as the company was the best ever. The service was amazing bar one man who made a cocky and rather loud noise regarding smoking area~ fair enough absolutely if it was done well and with grace and not a jobsworth power trip. Fantastic bar staff particularly a young man who couldn’t do enough to help. Lovely atmosphere and we have decided to make it a monthly occurrence for our girls ~ look out 🫶🏼🌅💥✨🎵🎉🩷🎶
