About This Pub

Ah, The Hare & Hounds – what a gem of a pub tucked away in London. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got that perfect mix of traditional pub vibes and family-friendly fun. I love how folks rave about the food; whether it's a hearty Sunday lunch that leaves you smiling or those banging hot dogs that sort you out after a rough weekend, it sounds like they really know their stuff in the kitchen. The staff stand out too – special mentions for people like Joy and Max who go the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly, especially for events like birthday parties. That garden and outdoor space must be a treat on a sunny day, and the quirky features like the lion's head fireplace add a bit of character that makes it more than just your average boozer. On the flip side, it's a shame their website's not playing ball right now; I'd have loved to dive deeper into the details before heading over. And those operating hours are a tad confusing – one minute it's closing early, the next it's late, so you might want to double-check before you go. Overall, though, it strikes me as a solid choice for a relaxed afternoon or evening out; it's got that feel-good factor that keeps people coming back, and with such high ratings, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on – think delicious Sunday lunches and tasty hot dogs that hit the spot after a big night out.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive; they've got that warm welcome down to a tee, making everyone feel right at home.
  • It's got a fantastic atmosphere with a lovely garden, outdoor seating, and even a striking lion's head fireplace – perfect for relaxing or hosting events.
  • Family-friendly vibes all the way; great for kids' parties or just a casual family meal, with plenty of space and options to keep little ones happy.
  • Comfy seating, a pool table, and a cosy conservatory make it a brilliant spot for a pint and a chat, especially on quieter evenings.
Cons
  • Their website seems to be playing hard to get – I couldn't access it, which makes it tricky to check out menus or events in advance.
  • The operating hours listed are a bit of a muddle, with varying times that might confuse folks trying to plan a visit.
  • It's marked as 'closed' in some spots, which could put people off, even if recent reviews suggest it's buzzing along just fine.

We held my daughter’s 2nd birthday party here last week in the lion room and it was just perfect! Max and the rest of the staff were wonderful. So attentive and helpful throughout the afternoon. The food was superb and drinks delicious. We’ll most definitely be back for more parties, drinks and food. Pizzas are top notch and the pub is gorgeous !!

Popped in here for a pint and really liked this place. Stripped back dark wood floors, comfy sofas (with matching ceiling!), pool table, conservatory, and lovely outdoor seating area. Early evening at the time of my visit, so fairly quiet. Very friendly staff. Would definitely return to try the food next time.
