About This Pub
Ah, The Hancock in Newcastle – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, folks rave about the excellent value for money; you can grab a bite and a pint without breaking the bank, which is always a winner on a night out. The staff really shine through in the reviews – they're described as helpful and chatty, making every visit feel welcoming, whether you're nipping in for a quick lunch or settling in for the match. The atmosphere's spot on too, with a nice beer garden for those sunny afternoons and a buzz that's perfect for watching sports or catching up with mates. On the flip side, there was that one tale about inconsistent ID checks, which might leave you a bit uneasy if you're all about that responsible drinking scene – it's a reminder that not everything's perfect. Still, with its solid food and drink choices and a handy location near the metro, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with your eyes open and enjoy the good bits while being mindful of the rest.

Cons
-
There might be some inconsistencies with ID checks, which could raise a few eyebrows about how strictly they enforce age policies, potentially putting off those who value that sort of thing.
-
Opening hours are a bit limited in the evenings, wrapping up fairly early, so it might not be the go-to for late-night sessions.

Come in all the time and for good reason. Cheap food, friendly staff and quick service. Always know what I want the second I walk in!
My 22 year old friend with a valid student ID was served 2 drinks without being questioned for ID. On ordering her third drink she realised she had forgotten her ID and calmly accepted she could not be served but wished to remain on the property until her friend had finished her drink (4:30pm). She was then followed outside to where we were sitting for the past hour and aggressively asked to leave the premises. Bar staff were rude and shouted at us as we were having a casual drink in the sun. Disappointed with the lack of consistent rules and how staff belittled me and my friend.
Nipped in during an afternoon to try the new menu. Amber was very helpful and went through all the new options available. Great food and beer choices. Will definitely be popping in again!
Lovely sunny day and a great beer garden to spend it in. Service from our bartender Amber was great and really friendly. Would definitely recommend if you’re in town and fancy a pint
We hired the upstairs part of the Hancock pub for my stepson's 21st party , from the first contact to booking the room to us all leaving just after 11pm the staff & manager made sure everything was done to perfection , if possible I would give 100/10 to the whole team who run this amazing establishment.
The Hancock is a great place to come for a nice drink & food , the staff are friendly & helpful & ready to make sure your time there is the best ever , all the catering is done the kitchen staff & it shows just how good pub food should be , when the food was being served you could see it had been thought out so well & we were all extremely pleased with every aspect of the buffet from presentation to taste .
The atmosphere inside is a very relaxed one & the whole place is a credit to all who work there to make it the success it is .
I would have no doubts about booking the Hancock again & would recommend it to anyone who asked what it is like , the biggest of thank you's to all the staff there who made it a great night for us all ♥️♥️♥️♥️🤘🤘🤘🤘🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
