About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Guild Chester – it's this lovely spot tucked away in the heart of Chester, right in a beautifully restored old church that gives it such a unique and elegant feel. I have to say, the interiors are just gorgeous, with velvet booths and a VIP area that really add to the buzz, making it perfect for a catch-up with friends or even hosting a special do like a birthday or wedding party. The cocktails are an absolute highlight; they're crafted with real care and creativity, from timeless classics to their own inventive twists, and paired with a solid selection of beers, wines, and spirits that keep everyone happy. The staff stand out too – they're so welcoming and on point with service, whether you're after table attention or just a good chat at the bar. It's clear from the reviews that folks have had a whale of a time here, with plenty of five-star shout-outs for the atmosphere and drinks. On the flip side, though, it's not open every day, just Thursday to Sunday, and the hours vary, so you'll want to double-check before heading out to avoid a wasted trip. Plus, it can get a tad crowded in the smaller spaces, which might not suit if you're after a more relaxed vibe, and it does lean towards the premium end price-wise. All in all, it's a real gem for a sophisticated night out, but go in with the right expectations, and you're in for a treat!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The venue is absolutely stunning, set in a beautifully converted old church with luxurious furnishings, velvet booths, and a VIP area that makes you feel like you're in for a treat.
  • The cocktails are top-notch – a fantastic mix of classics, modern favourites, and unique Guild creations, all made with premium ingredients that really hit the spot.
  • Staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, offering table service that makes you feel special, whether you're popping in for a pint or celebrating an occasion.
  • It's a brilliant spot for events and parties, with a main hall perfect for dancing and a heated outdoor terrace that's ideal for enjoying drinks al fresco when the weather's on your side.
  • The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a great place to catch up with mates or kick off a night out in Chester's buzzing scene.
Cons
  • It's only open a few days a week – Thursday through Sunday with varying hours – so you'll need to check ahead to avoid disappointment if you're planning a spontaneous visit.
  • The space can feel a bit on the small side, especially when it gets busy, which might make it tricky to find a spot or move around comfortably.
  • There haven't been any recent reviews in the last six months, which could suggest things have quietened down, or it might just be a lull in the feedback.
  • As a premium cocktail bar, it might not be the most budget-friendly option for a casual pint, though that's more of a trade-off for the quality experience.

Went here for my birthday with 3 female cousins for cocktails. This place did not disappoint us. A booth was reserved for us, we were waited on, i felt special. The cocktails were the best ive tasted. The place its self is very clean and smart. The staff were very attentive and happy, just an amazing atmosphere. Planning to revisit very soon!! 10/10

Myself and my husband held our wedding party at The Guild over Christmas. We got married in Chester Town Hall then moved on to The Guild for a big party with all our friends and family. From the very first time we got in contact with Chiara and Stef they were so helpful and attentive. They made our planning super easy and helped us find suppliers for food and decorations. We used a pasta food van feast bros for our evening meal which was delicious and entertainment12 for our decorations who know the venue well. Our party was so much fun, the venue was so beautiful. Everything ran smoothly from the beginning of our planning to the end of the night at our wedding party. We are so grateful we chose this beautiful venue. We could have asked for more for our wedding celebration. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff at The Guild for making our party so special.

I get why this bar can get busy fast. The interior lovely and love this Historic feel. There is a neon sign perfect for a photo opportunity. I went on a Thursday evening and could enjoy the bar without it being pushed. It is on the small side but they do also outdoor seating. Cocktails were fab
