About This Pub

Oh, Barlounge is one of those places in Chester that just feels like a proper treat when you pop in for a drink or a bite. I've got to say, the cocktails are a real highlight – they're so creative and packed with flavour, like something you'd chat about over the table. And the food? Well, from the steaks that are cooked to perfection with that smoky barbecue edge to the classic Sunday roasts, it's all rather satisfying and hits the mark every time. The staff are an absolute gem too, always cheerful and on point, which really adds to the warm, inviting atmosphere whether you're tucked inside or out on the terrace. On the flip side, though, prices can sneak up on you; that locally brewed ale with its pineapple twist might not be everyone's cup of tea, especially at over £6, and cocktails like the Cuban Skyline at £11.50 feel a bit steep for a casual pint. Still, if you're up for something a tad special and don't mind splashing out, it's worth a visit – just go in with your eyes open and you'll have a lovely time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cocktails are creative and utterly delicious, perfect for a fun night out.
  • The food is spot on, with steaks that melt in your mouth and hearty Sunday roasts that hit the spot.
  • Service is top-notch, with staff who are incredibly friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home.
  • The atmosphere is brilliant, from the cosy indoor vibes to the outdoor terrace that's great for a catch-up over drinks.
Cons
  • Some drinks can be a bit pricey, like that £6-plus ale or a cocktail pushing £11.50, which might make you think twice.
  • Not every beer suits all tastes; those with tropical or fruity twists might not appeal if you're after something more traditional.

Got to say it's not my type of place, who wants a locally produced ale with a tropical aroma, or with pineapple? That's not, in my opinion, a beer. Especially at over £6. The cocktail my wife had was very nice, but a whopping £11.50. Cuban Skyline. The staff were good, very friendly and very efficient. Just not the type of place for me.

The steak melted in my mouth, cooked to the perfect doneness I wanted, and had an incredible smoky barbecue aroma. The service was top-notch, and the staff were extremely friendly! If I’m ever in Chester again, I’ll definitely be coming back!

Well our both steaks cooked absolutely perfect seasoned so nice the pepper 🌶 corn sauce very smooth and the fries stayed hot in there pot till the end. we both agreed £16.50 each was well worth it,even a few hours later we still had a lovely taste 💯 % recommend a visit
