About This Pub
Ah, Ye Old Custom House in Chester – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper British haven, you know? From the moment you step in, the friendly staff make you feel like you're part of the gang, and the food is spot on, with freshly prepared dishes that hit the spot without breaking the bank. I love how they've got that outdoor beer garden for sunny days, making it ideal for family outings or a cheeky midweek meet-up. On the flip side, if you're after something extraordinary in the beer department, it might not quite deliver, and it does get heaving when things are in full swing, so planning ahead could be wise. Overall, it's a solid choice for good times and great value, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with the flow and enjoy the craic!

Needed lunch, popped in here as the menu looked appetising, we were not disappointed. Food was freshly cooked and served quickly. The two ladies staffing the bar & kitchen were very friendly and welcoming, the decor of the pub was great, didn't see any plastic flowers which was another plus.
A lovely old traditional pub in the middle of Chester not too far from Chester racecourse. We always pop here when at Chester races and as you can imagine it’s always busy with a fabulous atmosphere ,, but we’ve come again today when it’s not a race day and there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere. There is a very nice small beer garden with plenty of tables and chairs and a lovely hammock style bench to sit on in the sunshine.
Needed a dinner and a drink after a long drive from Kent and stumbled across this pub and I wasnt disappointed. The food was great and reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly. I would come back again if I find myself back in Chester.
Meet up here with friends and it is a pleasure to walk into this pub;always greeted with a smile and hello.Nothing is too much trouble from asking for directions to sorting out what we want off the menu.
Prices are very reasonable for food amd drinks and you are given the impression that nothing is too much trouble.
Midweek daily food offers must keep this pub busy during the day. Nothing special on the cask beer front - Pedigree & Wainwright. Good to find a beer garden in this area of Chester 👍🏻
