About This Pub
Ah, The Griffin Inn – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper cosy spot in Bath, you know? I've heard from a few folks that it's got this welcoming vibe, with staff who go out of their way to make you feel at ease, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a meal. The food's generally a winner; their Sunday roasts are spot on, full of flavour and using local ingredients, which is always a nice touch. And if you're travelling with your dog, it's a real treat to find a pub that's so accommodating. Plus, being right in the thick of things in Bath means you're just steps away from exploring the city. On the flip side, it's a shame that some dishes don't quite live up to the cost – like that ploughman's one person mentioned, which sounded a bit disappointing for the price tag. Oh, and if you're staying in their rooms, which are comfy and characterful, you'll miss out on breakfast, so plan ahead for that. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out, but it's worth going in with your eyes open to those little drawbacks – keeps things balanced, doesn't it?

Recent Reviews
Our recent visit to The Griffin Inn left us with a rather lukewarm impression. While the staff were generally helpful and attentive, the food unfortunately didn't quite live up to expectations, especially considering the prices.
My wife opted for the ploughman's (£17), which sadly featured a few crackers that were noticeably stale and cheese that had begun to dry out. While there was a generous portion of bread and some ham, the overall offering felt somewhat underwhelming for the cost.
I chose the steak and ale pie, served with chunky chips and some greens. The pie itself was decent enough, but again, the price point felt a little steep for what it was.
The atmosphere was pleasant enough, although one of the staff members seemed a little weary, though not impolite in any way.
Overall, our experience at The Griffin Inn was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly memorable either. With a few tweaks to the freshness and value of the food, it has the potential to be much better.
I had a lovely 3 night stay at the Griffin Inn. The staff were helpful and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable. I ate there one night and the food was delicious. It’s well placed for the centre of Bath and all the main sights. I’m already planning to come back again next year
We booked last minute for Sunday evening, having seen The Griffin is dog friendly. Great choice. Food delicious, beer recommendations spot on. Great staff who made us feel so welcome. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Had a fantastic Sunday roast on mother's day. The food was great and the team were really accommodating. They're dog friendly which is always a bonus. I'm a local to Bath and will definitely be booking again!
Just happened to pop into this bar/restaurant today and so glad we did. What a fantastic welcome! Really friendly staff and a lovely comfortable environment. Music playlist was fantastic and the background music was background! Quiet enough to have a great chat but loud enough to tap your feet along. The steak pie was very tasty and the cheese board was delicious. The £25 for two main meals is a great deal to be fair.
We will return as the staff made us feel very welcome and the banter was good. The food excellent value and a nice choice of beer and wine. 10/10 for comfy seats and chilled calm atmosphere too.
