About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Greyhound – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot every time. I've heard such rave reviews from folks who've been, and from what I've seen, the food is spot on; we're talking delicious, well-cooked meals with generous servings that make you wonder how they fit it all on the plate. The carvery sounds like a real treat, especially if you're after a proper roast, and they've got all sorts on the menu to suit different tastes. The staff really stand out too – they're so attentive and make you feel right at home, which is just what you want after a long week. It's got that classic country pub charm with a lovely beer garden for sunnier days and a snug area that's perfect if you're bringing the dog along. On the flip side, do keep in mind that the carvery room is upstairs, so it might not be the easiest for everyone, and the opening times can be a tad unpredictable, so it's best to double-check. All in all, it's a fantastic spot for a bite and a chat, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – you'll leave with a smile, I reckon!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is an absolute delight – think generous portions of locally sourced ingredients, with standout options like their carvery and Sunday roasts that leave you feeling well satisfied.
  • The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make sure everyone feels looked after, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or a full meal.
  • It's a proper cosy spot with a beautiful beer garden, a dog-friendly snug, and even an open fire in winter, making it perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • They've got a great variety on the menu, from hearty pub favourites to lighter bites and even breakfast options, all served in a charming village setting.
Cons
  • The carvery is tucked away upstairs, which might not be ideal if you're not keen on stairs or have mobility concerns, though the team are helpful about it.
  • Opening hours can vary a bit, so it's worth checking ahead to avoid any disappointment if you're planning a visit on a quieter day.

It was my first visit and I was very impressed. We were a family party of 7, including children, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Our food was prompt and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are very generous and superb quality. We're happy to recommend The Greyhound for any occasion, and we all look forward to our next visit.

Fantastic service and atmosphere. It was very busy and the staff were great at looking after us. I had the vegan burger and my three friends had roasts, which they loved! Very generous portions! Highly recommend!

Really lovely restaurant. Staff were so friendly and helpful- there was a large party near us and the staff were encouraging us to order before the party, it was a kind gesture to avoid us having a long wait and we didn’t feel rushed either. Will definitely be coming back. Food was absolutely delicious, save room for dessert!

So good we came back the next day for lunch! :) We arrived without booking on a busy Friday evening but the owner happily accommodated us and was willing to shuffle tables around for us with our two dogs. The menu is beautiful and the food was incredible! Staff are all really lovely. It's rare to find a little pub with such a great atmosphere and menu to match! Highly recommend the Belly Pork, Chicken Burger and Sandwiches from the lunch menu 👌
