About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Green Man, it just brings a smile to my face – it's one of those pubs that really captures the essence of a traditional British spot, tucked away near Hitchin. The food stands out as a real highlight; folks rave about the Sunday lunches, with roasts cooked to perfection and portions that leave you more than satisfied. Pair that with some top-notch real ales, and you've got a winning combination for a laid-back afternoon or evening. The atmosphere is spot on too, whether you're snuggling up by the open fire on a cold day or enjoying the enclosed garden when the sun's out – it's versatile and always feels inviting. The team there are absolute stars, bending over backwards to ensure everyone has a good time, as seen in stories of special events like wakes being handled with such care. On the flip side, it's not perfect; the main door might pose a bit of a challenge for anyone with mobility issues, but they're on hand to sort it out straight away. And while the hours can be a bit murky, once you're in, it's well worth the visit. All in all, it's a lovely place for catching up with mates or family, offering that genuine community feel without any pretence – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed.

We go out for dinner every Sunday, somewhere different, we don’t need to now, this was the best roast we have had in months, cooked to perfection!
Never had a bad time here

absolutely fantastic service i’m wheelchair user very helpful main door bit tight but go in and ask there is another set of doors they will open for you we had Sunday lunch beautifully presented large portion could not fault this pub at all highly recommend
Went here for lunch recently with a couple of friends and was pleasantly surprised, food was really tasty and reasonably priced. The music wasn't too loud so we could sit there and have a good catch up each other. Would definitely go there again and would definitely recommend.
Very warm and friendly pub. Menu is varied and very "pubish". On the heavy side. Excellent living beers and Frank serving them makes life more bearable after long flight, airports and driving. Take IPA. Mixed grill is huge, cant even imagine what the bigger version, mammouth, would be. Will visit again.
