About This Pub
Ah, the Plume of Feathers – it's one of those pubs that just makes you smile as soon as you step inside. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the food is where it really shines; folks rave about the massive portions and that authentic smokehouse style, with dishes that are packed full of flavour and a bit of a twist on the classics. The staff get a big thumbs up too – they're genuinely friendly and make you feel like a regular right away, which is just lovely for a casual night out. The atmosphere is spot on as well, with a good mix of ales and a welcoming crowd that makes for some great banter. On the flip side, it's a tad out of the way in a small village, and without a website or easy contact details, you might find yourself winging it a bit when planning a trip. Still, with such high praise for the grub and service, I'd say it's well worth seeking out if you're in the area – just keep in mind it might not suit everyone if you're after something more central or digitally savvy. All in all, it's a solid spot that does the traditional pub thing rather well, with a few unique touches that keep it feeling fresh.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think generous portions of tasty, smoked meats that really hit the spot, with some lovely surprises like cauliflower cheese.
-
The staff are so welcoming and friendly; they make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a wonderful atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with mates, especially with that good selection of ales and a nice crowd of locals.
-
They're clearly passionate about what they do, giving the menu a genuine smokehouse twist that's a bit different from the usual pub grub around here.
Cons
-
There's no website or phone number listed, which makes it a bit tricky to check the menu or book ahead if you're planning a visit.
-
Being in a quiet village spot, it might not be the easiest place to get to if you're not local, and the online presence is pretty minimal overall.
-
While the reviews we've seen are all rave ones, the average rating suggests there might be the odd off day or something not quite right for everyone.

A very generous portion of great tasting food. The addition of cauliflower cheese was a great surprise.
The staff were really welcoming
Amazing food since Sarah has taken over.
Unreal can’t wait to try rest of the menu.
Made to feel so welcome by bar staff too so glad this pub is back and better than ever
Spot on proper food. Huge portions of extremely tasty food. Landlord really knowledgeable and passionate about the food he serves, which is smoked over the best part of a day. Good selection of ales, and nice crowd of locals for good banter.
Look, these folks are trying to do something a little different in the area. Giving their menu a genuine smokehouse angle. Taking some great cuts of British beef and pork, smoking them low and slow and producing great meals. They are really worth trying out. Or, you can go to your usual place and eat quite satisfactorily. Well life's too short for "satisfactory". I'll be having a go at "fantastic" if it's all the same with you!
