About This Pub

Ah, Bucks Head in Little Wymondley – it's one of those pubs that just warms you up from the inside out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute stars, always ready with a smile and a chat, which makes popping in feel like you're part of the gang. The prices are fair and straightforward, so you can enjoy a solid meal or a pint without worrying about the bill creeping up. It's got this massive garden that's perfect for families, with toys scattered about to keep the little ones busy, and they've got events like live music and fireworks that add a real buzz to the place. The food doesn't disappoint either – think generous portions of hearty pub classics that leave you satisfied. But, to keep it real, there are a couple of niggles; some folks have mentioned the seasoning being a tad heavy on certain dishes, and there might be a preference for how the food is served, though they're flexible about it. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a laid-back evening with good company and no fuss – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • Prices are spot on – reasonable and offer great value for the quality of food and drinks on offer.
  • It's a proper family-friendly spot with a massive garden and loads of toys to keep the kids entertained.
  • The atmosphere is brilliant, especially with live music and events like fireworks displays that really get the energy going.
  • Food portions are generous and tasty, with highlights like the hog roast and Sunday lunches that hit the spot every time.
Cons
  • Some dishes can have a bit too much seasoning, like salt, which might not suit everyone's taste buds.
  • Food presentation isn't always ideal, with a few folks preferring plates over wooden boards, though they're happy to switch it up if asked.

Visited the pub before the new owners actually opened the doors, what a welcome!!! Family friendly establishment, new prices very reasonable, massive garden, clean and well presented interior, loads of toys for children of all ages, live music booked and much more! Cannot wait for the launch on Thursday! So far very pleased! Xx

Visited last night 4/11/23 as we bought tickets for the fireworks display and hog roast. What a great night, staff are friendly, hog roast was delicious with a good display of fireworks and to top it off a really energetic great sounding band. What a brilliant night.

Visited on a day when an American car club was holding a meet later that evening. Had a meal with the wife good honest pub food at reasonable prices. Well presented but I do have a pet hate of food served on anything but a plate but they were happy to change from a wooden board to a plate. Had puddings too. Menus in the pictures.

Great atmosphere and generous portions. Worth the money. Been here on a midweek evening and a Sunday lunch - for what people are charging nowadays this pub really delivers - cooking beef to an exact standard and the pork to an excellent quality. Cauliflower cheese as standard! Midweek food was fish and chips and scampi, both cooked fresh and chips done to order, all in all a premium experience from a pub which deserves a lot more patronage

Great friendly atmosphere, Colette the manager and Tony the owner, good banter. Jam sponge with hot custard and ice cream was the best dessert I've had. Only let down was a little too much salt for my tastes in the Carvey.
