About This Pub

You know, when you fancy a proper pub outing in the Kilsby area, The George really hits the spot with its mix of traditional charm and modern twists on classic dishes – I'm talking about those mouthwatering homemade meals with a bit of an Asian flair that make every bite feel special. The staff are an absolute treat, always on hand with a smile and quick to sort you out, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting, especially in that lovely historic building with its garden and conservatory for a bit of outdoor fun. It's brilliant for catching up with mates over events like afternoon tea or a lively steak night. On the flip side, though, a few folks have mentioned the portions aren't as generous as you'd expect, leaving you a bit short on a full meal, and service can occasionally lag, making a casual lunch stretch out longer than planned. Still, with such a strong overall vibe and plenty of positive vibes from visitors, it's well worth popping in for a relaxed evening – just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant, with homemade dishes packed full of Asian-inspired flavours that leave you wanting more – think delicious afternoon teas and hearty roasts.
  • The staff are so friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, just like a proper country pub should.
  • It's got that charming, historic vibe in an 18th-century building, complete with a lovely conservatory and garden area that's perfect for a relaxed meal or a special occasion.
  • They offer a great range of events like bottomless brunch, curry clubs, and steak nights, which add a fun twist and keep things lively.
Cons
  • Portion sizes can be a bit disappointing, especially for the larger plates that don't quite live up to their name and might leave you still peckish.
  • Service can sometimes drag on a tad, feeling slower than expected even when the team is being helpful, which might put a damper on a quick visit.
  • The drinks selection in some deals, like bottomless brunch, is a bit limited, so you might not find as many options as you'd hope for.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea, with both the Asian and classic options. We enjoyed every mouthful. Naresh was very attentive and gave us great service. Highly recommended

We went for a quick lunch - worst experience I’ve ever had. Place looks good but that’s about it. Menu looks good on paper, again, that’s it. The large plates are a joke as they’re not large by any measure, it’s for one person. I’m assuming the normal size must be kiddie portions perhaps. The worst sauce with the chicken skewer ever - pasty and absolutely vile. Chips - never thought I’d ever find bad chips in the UK, but hey! I did - each chip has the core removed so u get about half a chip and with some cheap spice sprinkled on top and called masala fries. The waitress who served us was extremely rude, no smile, just moving here and there with 0 interest like she’s doing us a favour. Asked her about 20% off on the menu as I had just glanced at it - she asked me back ‘what for’. Treat yourself somewhere else, this is simply not worth the time, effort or money. Awful place.

We did bottomless brunch, service compared to anywhere else was faster but still seemed almost intentionally slower. The included drinks selection was fairly limited but wasn't disappointing. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, will absolutely come again.

Really nice to see a pub / restaurant create such a welcoming environment and the food was really good. A happy find with a lovely conservatory, BBQ garden and welcoming bar / restaurant. It’s not always easy to find good food in the area so we will be back! Thank you for a lovely evening

Fantastic restaurant, the service is excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Looking forward to coming again soon to try the Indian range however as for today we enjoyed 4x beef roast dinners. My Mum went as far as to say that it was the best beef she's ever eaten and we all loved our desserts Must visit
