About This Pub

Ah, The Arnold Arms, what a lovely little find in the heart of Barby! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really nails the classics with their elevated British dishes, and the Sunday roasts sound like they're something special – think melt-in-your-mouth beef, fresh veg, and those generous portions that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. The staff seem to go the extra mile with their attentive service, creating that warm, welcoming environment where you can kick back by the fire with a pint of craft beer or soak up the sun in the beer garden. It's dog-friendly too, which is always a plus for us who like to bring the whole family along. On the flip side, it's a bit out of the way if you're not in the area, so you might have to make a bit of an effort to get there, and it does get packed on weekends, which could mean a wait or a noisier atmosphere if you're after something quiet. All in all, though, it's got that genuine pub charm that makes you want to return, and based on the rave reviews, it's clear folks are loving it – I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone after a solid meal and good company.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Sunday roasts are absolutely spot on – tender beef, perfect roasties, and massive Yorkshires that make for a proper hearty meal.
  • Fantastic atmosphere with open fires for those chilly evenings and a lovely beer garden for sunny days, making it a great spot year-round.
  • Warm and welcoming service that makes you feel right at home, paired with top-quality food using fresh, local ingredients.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry mate, and they've got a cracking selection of craft beers to choose from.
Cons
  • Being tucked away in a village, it might not be the easiest to get to if you're not local, so planning ahead could be a bit of a faff.
  • With its popularity, it can get quite busy, especially on Sundays, which might mean waits for tables or a more lively crowd than some might prefer.

Travelling from Surrey to stay in rugby ahead if our visit to Crick Boat show. We exited the M1 and booked a table enroute. The Sunday roast is amazing 👏 🤩 😋. The best roast beef 😋 I've ever tasted. Tender and tasty. Excellent roasties. Massive Yorkshire pud. Very fresh vegetables. If you want the best Sunday roast of your life ...this should be your destination. ❤️❤️❤️ bank holiday weekend.

Absolutely charming village pub. A warm welcome and excellent attentive service, the quality of the food is outstanding. Easily the best pub Sunday Roast I have ever been served. Our 4 person party all agreed that everything on the plate was cooked to perfection. Looking forward to returning already.

We were invited over by some friends as the pub has recently re opened. Very welcoming & the food is outstanding! I don't give 5 stars easily, but this place deserves it. The starters were mouth watering & and fillet steak was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended if you feel like treating yourself!

I’d already heard good things about the Sunday roast, so I knew we wouldn’t be disappointed but wow!! Everything about it was even better than I could’ve hoped for. Everything on the plate was delicious, well done that chef 🫡 … but it’s not just the amazing food, the pub itself is comfortable and welcoming and the staff as lovely as ever (special thanks to Sophie for looking after us). The rare beef was out of this world, the best I’ve tasted! I’d like to keep this gem a secret but it’s only fair to them to sing their praises so everyone can enjoy it!!
