About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Garden Rooms – it's one of those places that just feels right for a casual catch-up with friends over some tasty bites. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is a real winner; think fresh, quality dishes like the smashed avocado or egg Benedick that's cooked to perfection with a nice zing. The staff come across as genuinely warm and attentive, adding that extra touch that turns a simple meal into a memorable one. And the atmosphere? It's all about that pleasant backdrop with good music and lovely interiors, making it easy to forget you're in the middle of Watford. It's conveniently placed near the stations too, so it's dead handy if you're nipping in from London for a breather. But, to keep it real, the coffee didn't quite impress everyone – one chap found it a bit watery, which is a shame when the rest is so spot on. Plus, with it only being open three days a week and evenings mostly, you might need to plan ahead rather than just dropping by on a whim. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a feel-good experience, though it's not without its little niggles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious, especially the brunch options like smashed avocado on sourdough and huevos rancheros – they really hit the spot for a satisfying meal.
  • The staff are so friendly and efficient, like Christina who made one visit feel extra welcoming and personal.
  • It's got a lovely atmosphere with great background music and beautiful decor, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
  • The location is spot on, just a short walk from Watford Junction or the Overground, ideal for a quick break from the hustle.
Cons
  • The coffee can be a bit of a letdown, as one person mentioned their flat white was watery and not up to par.
  • It's only open a few days a week with somewhat irregular hours, which might make it tricky to pop in spontaneously.

I had a wonderful brunch experience at The Garden Rooms. Christina, our server, was friendly and efficient, making our visit even more enjoyable. The smashed avocado on sourdough and huevos rancheros were both incredibly tasty and satisfying. The atmosphere was pleasant, with great background music and lovely green decor that added to the ambiance. I highly recommend this place for a delightful brunch outing.

Such a gorgeous summer evening spent here with drinks, tapas and music what more could you want! A short walk from Watford Junction (20 mins from Euston) or Watford Overground station (The met line station is a slightly longer walk) the perfect place to take a break from city life + spend time in Hertfordshire 🌳 Add the garden rooms watford to your summer go to list! I’m definitely coming back to visit for brunch 😍 ☕️

Great little cafe, Brunch was good, egg Benedick was cooked to perfection with a nice sharpness off the lemon. Only downside is the coffee, my flat white was watery.

My daughter and I dropped by for brunch today. The cafe is very pleasant and decorated beautifully. A very warm welcome too. There is a good menu, enough choice but not over fussy! We tried the smashed avacado on toast and a fishfinger sandwich. Both were great! Very fresh and good quality produce. Had a look at the bar downstairs which is lovely. With talk of cocktails, wine tasting and a good choice of sharing platters we will definitely be coming back to try these out on an evening. So nice to have a good quality, independent venue to eat and socialise in Watford. Highly recommend.
