About This Pub
Ah, The Moon Under Water – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon haunts that always delivers on the basics, isn't it? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the food really shines with tasty options like burgers, pizzas, and that standout white sauce pasta that's just as good here as anywhere else in the chain. Prices are spot on for keeping things light on the wallet, and the service tends to be prompt and accommodating, which makes for a pleasant visit overall. The lively atmosphere is spot on for a casual get-together or even a relaxed brunch. On the flip side, you might run into the odd disappointment, like a dish not quite matching what you had in mind, or perhaps finding they've sold out of something popular, but they do their best to make amends. All in all, it's a welcoming spot for a pint and a bite, especially if you're after good value without the fuss – I'd say it's worth popping in for a proper pub experience in Watford.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is generally spot on – think delicious burgers, pizzas, and even that white sauce pasta that's consistently brilliant across Wetherspoon spots.
-
It's incredibly affordable, making it a top choice for a cheeky meal or a pint without breaking the bank.
-
Service is quick and friendly, with staff going out of their way to sort things out if something's not available.
-
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for a casual catch-up or enjoying an all-day brunch.
-
They're open late most days, so it's great for those spontaneous evenings out.
Cons
-
Some dishes might not quite live up to expectations, like the chicken shwarma that turned out more like fried tenders – a bit disappointing if you're after something specific.
-
There can be occasional shortages, such as running out of certain items, though the team does offer alternatives.
-
It might feel a tad busy at times, which could make it less relaxing if you're hoping for a quiet spot.

The was tasty, but my chicken shwarma seemed like fried chicken tenders. Tasty but not the expectation.
Excellent food, went after a while but their food quality has actually improved, fries are perfect, pizza is far better than chains and delicious burgers! And at these prices wonder how they do it.
Great spot for an all-day brunch! The food was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. The place has a nice, lively atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a tasty and enjoyable meal. Highly recommend!
I haven't been anywhere in UK till date that offers such delicious white sauce pasta and it is consistent in taste across all wetherspoon restaurants. Simply amazing!
We were here as tourists with local friends. Walking in we were immediately greeted by another customer which was a good start haha. The interior was really charming and I absolutely loved it!
The service was top notch, there weren't any poached eggs at that moment but we were given multiple options to replace them and I had a great meal. The 2 pitchers for 15£ was also awesome. We picked the purple rain and Hawaiian punch and they were very yummy! 🤗
