About This Pub

Ah, The Foley Arms in Stourbridge – it's one of those pubs that feels like a reliable old friend, you know? From what I've gathered, the food really shines when you dive into the main menu options; folks rave about dishes like haddock and chips, and it's all served up in a warm, family-friendly setting with a cracking beer garden for those sunny days. Prices are fair, and there's plenty of parking, making it dead easy to pop in for a meal or a catch-up. But, let's be straight, it's not flawless – sometimes the grub comes out not quite hot enough, or the portions on those set menus feel a bit stingy, and service can vary from brilliant to a touch off-putting. Still, with a solid overall rating, it's worth giving it a go for a laid-back evening; just keep expectations realistic and maybe steer clear of the set menu if you're after a hearty feed. All in all, it's a decent spot for good times with a pint in hand.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is a real winner when you choose from the main menu – things like haddock and chips come out spot on and utterly delicious.
  • Staff can be lovely and efficient, making you feel right at home with their friendly service.
  • Prices are pretty reasonable, so it's a great spot for a casual bite without breaking the bank.
  • They've got a spacious beer garden and ample parking, perfect for a relaxed gathering with mates or family.
Cons
  • Food doesn't always arrive piping hot, like those lukewarm chips that left a bit to be desired.
  • Portions on the set price menu can be a tad small, which might leave you wanting more for your money.
  • Some items on the menu might be unavailable, so it's worth double-checking to avoid disappointment.
  • Service can be inconsistent – you might get a top-notch server one time and someone a bit bossy the next.

This visit to the Foley was much better, I had the Haddock and chips for main and battered mushrooms to start and it was amazing. I decided to go off the main menu and avoid the set price menu as last time I was disappointed with the size of the plates. For an extra £5 I had a lovely meal. The only thing which was annoying was the lighting. The staff started to lower the lights and by the time we left at 10:30pm our corner was so dark it was difficult to see.

Overall the food was OK. The lady came to check if the food was OK and I told her chips were lukewarm but nothing was done thus marking the food down to 4/5 stars. The presentation of the food could been better, perhaps with some side salads for the spicy chicken burger I had and for children's food too. More lunch time burger options would be good too. The pub was busy and I believe and service probably could have been better but with only 2 staffs think they managed the best they could. I went back to the counter asking if I can get the loyalty reward marked on the app but was told it was needed to be done when I paid for the food. Wish they told me this when I was paying as I just downloaded the app. Thus 2/5 stars for service.

We did not remain fully happy as there were items in the menu that were actually unavailable. On the other hand we were additionally served by a kind and professional young man, but unfortunately we cannot say this for the first person. The first person servicing us seemed to be bossy and nearly shouted (probably naturally) which we did not like. We were looking for a place to relax, not to be shouted at. I'm not sure we go back soon.

Amazing food. Long journey from scotland and stopped in on our return journey, staff were friendly, prices are reasonable compared to other places within the same area. The food was amazing, faultless. Will definetly revist again.

It's our first visit to the Foley Arms. The food was nice but not very hot. The desserts were tasty, though. Service was very good, both with bringing the food to the table & when we'd finished. There was a good choice of beers. Prices were reasonable. There's ample car parking.
