About This Pub

Ah, The Flask – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Hampstead, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars; they're friendly, attentive sorts who make you feel welcome straight away, whether you're popping in for a quick lunch or a full Sunday roast. The food's generally spot on too – I've heard rave reviews about the steak sandwiches and that polenta cake, and the Sunday roasts sound like a winner, with generous portions and classic trimmings that leave you satisfied. It's got that warm, inviting vibe that's perfect for chatting over a pint or celebrating with friends, and being in such a quaint part of London just adds to the appeal. But let's be honest, it's not all perfect; a few folks have mentioned the beef coming out a tad overdone or the Yorkshire puds being dry, and those extra charges for sides like sauce can sting a bit. Plus, if you're after the ultimate roast, you might find it's good but not quite the best out there, and the odd shortage of things like potatoes could throw a spanner in the works. Still, with such high praise overall, I'd say it's well worth a visit – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight – think delicious steak sandwiches, tasty polenta cake, and spot-on Sunday roasts that hit the spot every time.
  • It's got a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a cosy catch-up or a special meal with friends.
  • The location in Hampstead is brilliant, tucked away in a charming spot that's easy to get to and adds to the overall charm.
  • With high ratings and plenty of positive feedback, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a solid pub experience.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be hit or miss, like overdone beef or dry Yorkshire puddings that don't quite live up to expectations.
  • There might be extra charges for things like sauce, which can feel a bit cheeky when you're already paying for a meal.
  • Portions can be on the generous side, leading to more food than you can handle and perhaps a bit of waste.
  • It's not the absolute best roast in London according to a few, so if you're a roast aficionado, you might still be on the hunt for perfection.
  • Occasional shortages, like with potatoes, can put a dampener on things if you're set on a full traditional spread.

Was very well looked after by friendly and attentive Jacob who served the lovely lunch fare with a smile. Food was very enjoyable - great steak sandwiches and the polenta cake for desert was especially delicious. Definitely recommend.

Perfect Sunday Roast at The Flask Pub - I had a wonderful Sunday roast lunch at The Flask Pub in Hampstead. The roast beef was cooked to perfection, accompanied by all the classic trimmings, and the portion size was just right. We did ask for extra gravy, which was promptly brought to the table, adding to the meal’s enjoyment. For dessert, we shared a delicious rhubarb and apple crumble with vanilla ice cream, which was the perfect end to the meal. The atmosphere was cozy, with pleasant background music that wasn’t too loud, making it easy to chat. A thoroughly satisfying experience and a great spot for a traditional Sunday roast!

We recently visited this restaurant for their Sunday roast, and the food was absolutely amazing! The environment was warm and welcoming, making it a lovely dining experience overall. We had booked in advance and requested a quiet table as we were dining with a baby. They accommodated our request perfectly, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is also family-friendly, with a highchair provided and baby-changing facilities available. Overall, it was a perfect visit, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Service was good. We had the special 3 course traditional Christmas lunch with main being turkey, pigs in blankets, leg ham, yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, brussels sprouts, carrots and parsnips. It was a huge meal. Would have preferred to pay less and have less of the main meal as we had to take half of each main meal home in a takeaway box, but it shows how generous the servings were. Also highly recommend ordering a lemon, lime and bitters drink. 🥤

As roasts in London go I would rate this 5/10. The beef was overdone and the double top Yorkshire pudding was a bit dry. Believe there was a potato shortage and the sauce on the side was extra charge. Still very nice location. Very good Bloody Mary. Still in search of the best Bloody Mary but this one was alright.
