About This Pub

Ah, The Flan O'Briens – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its welcoming vibe, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are just lovely, with the landlord being a standout who makes you feel like you're chatting with an old mate. The atmosphere can be spot on for a relaxed evening, especially if you're up for some karaoke or a bit of a singalong – it's clear the new owners are trying their best to breathe new life into the place and keep it buzzing. But, let's be honest, it's not all pints and cheers; there are times when things go a bit pear-shaped, like when the DJ gets sarky or the team behind the bar start knocking back shots like it's their private do, which can really kill the mood. Some folks have mentioned that changes to the events have chased away the old crowd, making it feel less inviting on certain nights. All in all, if you're popping into Walsall for a drink, it's worth giving it a go for the good bits, but maybe check what's on first to avoid any disappointments – it's got that classic pub charm with a few bumps along the way.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, with the landlord standing out as an absolute gem who makes everyone feel right at home.
  • It has a brilliant atmosphere that's perfect for locals, especially with fun additions like karaoke that bring people together.
  • The new owners are putting in real effort to improve things, like adding door staff to keep things safe and lively on weekends.
Cons
  • Some nights can get a bit out of hand with unprofessional behaviour, like the DJ making sarcastic comments or staff treating the place like their own party.
  • Changes to events, such as introducing rock nights, have put off a few regulars and changed the vibe for the worse in some eyes.
  • There have been issues with security and overall management slipping up, which can leave a sour taste after what should be a good night out.

Went there last night and it was absolutely diabolical! The dj was rude, making sarcastic comments, all the staff were drinking shots and generally using the place like their own private party. The so called security was behind the dj booth drinking shots and pints.....I've never been any where that made you feel so unwelcome or so unprofessional. Oh and I think the cider was off as it smelt and tasted rancid!!!!

Great to see it open again. New owners are pleasant. Door staff a nice touch, needed on the weekend in all bars not just the clubs. Great to see the owners trying to make it what it was before it shut with the karaoke. Keep the druggies out and they should make a success of it.

Atmosphere and most customers gone. Having been using this pub for many yrs on a Friday. Used to get very busy. Since new owners put rock nights on of a Friday killed the place.
