About This Pub

Ah, The Watering Trough – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. From chatting with mates about the reviews, it sounds like a proper gem in Walsall, with staff who go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and the service is spot on, just like Kevin mentioned when he popped in for a pint. The atmosphere is buzzing, especially on weekends with that metal music playing, which is a nice change and perfect if you're up for meeting new faces or having a laugh. Edmund and others have raved about how it's great for nightlife, and after its recent reopening, it's got this fresh, vibrant energy that's hard to beat. On the flip side, it's a cosy spot, which means it can get a bit packed, and as Bhadar pointed out, the bar being right at the entrance makes it awkward to navigate when things are heaving. Still, with its affordable prices and that lively outdoor area, it's worth giving it a go if you're in the area – just pick a quieter time if you fancy a more relaxed visit. Overall, it's a solid choice for a fun evening, with the good bits outweighing the niggles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant, always friendly and providing great service that makes you feel right at home.
  • It's got a lively atmosphere perfect for a good night out, with chances to meet new people and enjoy the buzzing vibe.
  • They play some cracking music, like metal on weekends, which adds a fun twist and keeps things energetic.
  • The pub has a welcoming feel, especially since the recent reopening, making it a refreshing spot in Walsall town centre.
  • Being inexpensive means you can pop in for a casual drink without breaking the bank, which is always a plus.
Cons
  • The place is on the small side, so it can get quite crowded and a bit tricky to move around when it's busy.
  • With the bar right by the entrance, it sometimes feels a tad squished, especially on weekends when things liven up.
  • It's not for everyone if you're not keen on pool tables or the music choices, as that might put some off.

I was chuffed to find one of my favourite minds on tap and enjoyed the friendly feel to the place. Pubs with a pool table are not for me, but that is just personal choice on my part. Good service from the staff and I would pop in agsin when in the area.

How do I describe perfection in Walsall town center. I grew up round this watering hole. So did the last 4 generations of my family. I can say is that Angie is absolutely killing it there now and rocking up the town to a new vibrant and lively venue. If you want a great night out that is loud proud and safe this is the place for you. Everyone there is friendly and full of life, go check it out. That is my recommendation anyway.

I have been using this establishment for many years. It closed recently and reopened a couple of weeks ago with a new landlady. She and the pub are refreshing and welcoming and a must visit venue whilst walking through a historic town!

Small place. Bar right by entrance so gets difficult to enter and exit the place when busy on the weekend. DJ on weekend playing RnB. Large out side area up the stairs, which is lit and has heating. Second bar area also outside with music also playing outside too. Lots of seating and tables.
