About This Pub

Ah, The Firbank Pub & Kitchen – it's one of those neighbourhood spots in Wythenshawe that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? I've got to say, the team there really know how to make you feel welcome; they're always up for a chat and go out of their way to ensure everything's spot on. The garden area's a real treat, especially if you're with the family – plenty of space to relax, and that bouncy castle is a brilliant touch for keeping the kids entertained while you catch up over a drink. The food can be spot on too, with some solid pub grub that pairs perfectly with their drinks, and it's all at prices that won't leave you feeling short-changed. But, fair play, it's not all perfect – I've heard a few tales of online orders going awry, like meals turning up cold or missing key bits, and the veg options on some dishes are a bit sparse, which might not suit everyone. Still, if you're up for popping in for a meal and a pint, it's definitely worth it; just maybe give the takeaways a skip to keep things on the up and up. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, with the good bits far outweighing the odd off day.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home with their warm smiles and attentive service.
  • It's a fantastic spot for families, with a spacious garden area and even a bouncy castle for the little ones to enjoy.
  • The food hits the spot when it's good, offering great pub classics and a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for a casual get-together.
  • Prices are reasonable, making it an affordable choice for a night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • Online orders can be a letdown, with some reports of food arriving cold, missing items, or not up to scratch.
  • The vegetable options in dishes like the carvery are quite limited, which might disappoint if you're after a more varied meal.
  • Food quality isn't always consistent, with a few mentions of overcooked items or things that don't quite live up to the hype.

I recently visited The Firbank Pub & Kitchen using a dine-in voucher that was kindly offered after a disappointing Uber Eats order, where the food had arrived overcooked and not great quality for the price. I appreciated the gesture and thought I’d give it another go, especially as I’d heard good things about the Sunday roast. Unfortunately, the dine-in experience didn’t really change my opinion. I ordered the Sunday roast again, hoping for improvement, but was left underwhelmed. The meat was overcooked, the plate was missing stuffing, and overall everything was lukewarm—not what you’d hope for from a roast. My partner had the chicken goujons, which were quite salty and again just not great in quality. While the portion sizes are generous, the food still didn’t live up to expectations. That said, the staff were lovely and Simon in particular stood out with excellent customer service. It’s clear they care about the customer experience, which is really appreciated—but sadly, the food just isn’t enough to bring me back.

Ordered online. We ordered carvery with beef, turkey and partner ordered beef and gammon. Both came missing meat, everything was freezing. The only veg you get is carrot and cabbage. You don't get any broccoli, cauliflower, parsnips, peas. Claim to be homemade but everything was fake except for maybe the cabbage but the mash was definitely not home made (smash type)and was literally rock solid that I couldn't break it up. Everything was extremely soggy especially the roast potatoes and Yorkie. Gravy also freezing. Yorkshire pudding smelt like wet dog It almost made me 🤮. Portion sizes really small. Didn't eat it, tried bits of each item and didn't taste nice at all. Didn't taste fresh or homemade. My total cost was between £30-£35 absolutely not worth it and a scam in my eyes.

Exceptional Service with a Smile at The Firbank! I used to frequent other pubs, but after my experience at The Firbank in Wythenshawe, it’s now my go-to spot. Manager Adele is always smiling, incredibly welcoming, and truly an asset to the team. Her warm demeanor made us feel right at home. The customer service, especially from Adele and barmaid Siana, was outstanding. As the head of a company, I’ll be bringing more people here because of the excellent service, the great music, and the fantastic atmosphere. If you're looking for a place with great vibes and warm service, The Firbank is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Wedding party, we allocated ourselves outside under the marquee. Weather was good for a change, which helped with the great atmosphere. The garden was big enough that other customers were able to have the outside tables. Pub is big, toilets were nice and staff were quick behind the bar. Food, however, was excellent. Pictures attached.
