About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Romper in Ringway – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper hidden gem, especially if you're popping in for a bite before heading off from the airport. I love how it's got that cosy, country inn feel, with a warm atmosphere that's just right for unwinding over a meal or a drink. The food really stands out; think hearty pub classics done well, like that lamb shank shepherd's pie that's so tender and full of flavour – it's the sort of thing that leaves you smiling. And the staff? They're brilliant, always friendly and helpful, making sure everything runs smoothly without being over the top. It's a great spot for groups or even a solo visit, with decent options on the menu to suit most tastes. On the flip side, I have to be honest, one of the dishes like the slow-cooked beef came across as a tad too fatty in some feedback, which might not sit well if you're after something leaner. Still, with such high ratings overall, it's clear this place gets more right than wrong, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed evening out – just maybe check the menu first to pick your favourites!

Tucked away on a quiet side street in Manchester, this hidden gem of a pub offers a cozy escape from the city's bustle. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is unexpectedly flavourful. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely make you feel welcome. It’s the kind of place you stumble upon once and keep going back to. Also, sturdy high chairs for kids, little ones menu available and some crayons.
Me and my friend went for a bite to eat here and the food was delicious. I ordered the lamb shank shepherd’s pie and the meat was falling off the bone and was so flavourful. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend going and we’re looking forward to visiting again soon :)
I had Tesco vouchers to use and found this restaurant via Google reviews, and the 5 stars are totally worth it.
I visited three times!! Great choices on the menu, excellent service and nice relaxed atmosphere for a midweek afternoon visit. Top quality service from Tom and Ayden.
Wheelchair access was good...made a note on the reservation and given a table with good access. Decent sized accessible toilet, perfect for manual chair.
I will only ever write 5* reviews where I feel they are deserved and this place is one of them! Me and my boyfriend usually just eat in the Premier Inn when we are staying over the night before a holiday, but I thought I’ll push the boat out and try somewhere near (and better).
I cannot fault this place whatsoever, staff are attentive and lovely and the food is *chefs kiss*. We got the garlic mushrooms and barbecue chicken strips for starters and for mains we both got the steak and ale pie with mash.
We were both very satisfied and will definitely be coming back. Also £41 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks which I think is considerably cheap!
I recently had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The service was fantastic, and I absolutely loved the salty caramel hot chocolate—it was just perfect. However, I found the 7-hour slow-cooked beef to be a bit too fatty for my taste. That said, everything else was delicious, and I really appreciated that they offered takeout options, especially with packing for our dog. Thank you so much for the lovely experience!
