About This Pub
Ah, The Fieldhouse – it's one of those pubs that feels like a reliable old mate, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got some cracking food on offer, like those mouthwatering Sunday roasts and homemade pies that folks rave about, and the portions are generous enough to make you loosen your belt a notch. The staff come across as genuinely warm and attentive, which really makes the place feel homely, and if you're lucky with the weather, the pub garden is a treat for a relaxed evening. On the flip side, it's not all sunshine and roses; a few people mentioned the atmosphere can be a bit flat sometimes, and there were grumbles about the food not quite living up to expectations or staff getting tangled up with orders and drink choices. Overall, it's a solid spot for a casual get-together if you're in the area, but it might not blow your socks off if you're after something more exciting – still, I'd say it's worth popping in for a pint and a bite if you're passing through Wolverhampton.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially the Sunday roasts and homemade pies – they're proper hearty and full of flavour, leaving you feeling well satisfied.
-
The staff are really friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in, which adds a nice touch to the whole experience.
-
It's got a great atmosphere in spots, with a lovely pub garden that's perfect for chilling out on a sunny evening, and the outdoor seating is spacious.
-
Portion sizes are generous, so you get bang for your buck, and it's moderately priced, making it a good value option for a casual meal or drinks.
-
The location is handy if you're in the Wolverhampton area, with nice scenery around, and it's open every day from midday till late, which is super convenient.
Cons
-
The atmosphere can feel a bit lacking at times, like it's not as lively as you'd hope for a pub outing, which might leave you wanting more buzz.
-
Food is decent but could be better – some folks have said it's just okay rather than outstanding, so it doesn't always hit the mark.
-
Staff can get a tad confused with orders, like mixing up drinks or payments, which might cause a few awkward moments during your visit.
-
Drink options are a bit limited; for instance, you might not get your first choice of lager, which could be disappointing if you're picky.
-
It's not really worth the effort for a long drive – best enjoyed if you're already nearby, as it doesn't quite stand out enough to make a special trip.

Went for a Sunday lunch last week, won't be going again, not much atmosphere at all, food was ok but could have been better. Staff were confused at wat orders were taken to put in the till to be paid for. Asked for carling lager was told couldn't have that so was given a totally different lager and didn't like it at all, hadn't heard of the make at all. So won't be going again.
A lovely and chill pub garden on a sunny evening. Worth a visit if you are already in the area, not sure I would drive far to go again, but wouldn't say no if I found myself near it again
We went to The Fieldhouse for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint.. the food was delicious and the service was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The portion sizes were impressive, and we were given two huge plates (to share between four of us) of extra potatoes and vegetables on the side to help ourselves to as well. Overall it was an amazing meal and we will definitely be back again 😍
2nd visit here after a few years and the pub is still great. The homemade pies are superb and highly recommended. Definitely recommend coming here for food and nice drinks with great atmosphere. The desserts were also excellent.
Wonderful pub, great location and scenery, has a large outdoor seating area and this is great for those lovely summer days. Food was great here, we tried the homemade chicken pie and lamb steaks and it was beautiful. Definitely recommend coming here especially for the beer garden, great food and great atmosphere.
Very tasty, well prepared, home cooked food, with a decent presentation and excellent taste
And that in the lower pub price range.
It was a bit of a surprise find really.
The car park was almost empty, to the point where we thought, can it be that bad?
Came inside and were welcomed by friendly staff.
What I would say is, they are hiding it well, but once you order the food, then the world is all in order.
