About This Pub
Ah, The Fellsider – what a lovely little find it is, tucked away in the Clavering Centre. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines when it comes to the grub; folks are raving about the massive portions and how everything's so fresh and delicious, like that beef dinner that melts in your mouth or the warm crumble that's just the ticket on a chilly day. The team there seem like absolute stars, always attentive and making sure you're looked after, which makes it a top choice for a relaxed lunch or even something more poignant like a family gathering. It's got that warm, community feel that's hard to beat, and at a moderate price, it's easy on the wallet too. On the flip side, the hours do look a tad muddled – you might plan for a evening out only to find it wrapping up earlier than expected – and without a website, it's not the easiest to scout out beforehand. Still, if you're in the area or willing to make the trip, I'd say give it a go; it's one of those pubs that leaves you with a smile, balancing out the good with a few quirks that keep it real.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely top-notch – huge portions that are fresh and full of flavour, making it a brilliant spot for a hearty Sunday lunch or any meal.
-
Staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive, always on hand to make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick bite or hosting an event.
-
Great value for money with tasty options like beef dinners and desserts that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed, perfect for casual lunches or even special occasions, with a cosy spot to enjoy good music and company.
-
It's a reliable local gem that's open every day, ideal for those spontaneous visits or planned get-togethers.
Cons
-
The operating hours can seem a bit confusing based on what's listed, which might put off visitors hoping for a late-night pint.
-
No website means it's trickier to get all the details online, so you might have to rely on word of mouth or a quick call to check availability.
-
Being a bit out of the way, it could require a drive for some, though that's part of its charm if you're up for the journey.

Could not recommend somewhere more for a Sunday lunch, 10/10, So much food and all fresh, probably the best dinner we’ve had, hence driving an hour just so we can have one! Such good value for money, huge portions, staff are so welcoming and attentive. We’ve been a few times now and the food has been amazing every time! The photos don’t do it justice.
We held my mother's wake here in May and would like to say a massive thank you for the wonderful friendly welcome everyone received from the Fellsider. The food provided for the buffet was brilliant and even though it was a very sad day everyone commented on what a fantastic job the Fellsider had done.
We have now been back twice for Fish and chips Friday and also for midweek meals and the food has been fantastic.
We would definitely recommend trying the Fellsider it's a gem of a pub with great food, excellent value for money and super friendly staff & spotlessly clean.
We'll be back again soon.

First Impressions:
I’ve passed this place a few times—it always seemed like a typical local pub, so I hadn’t gone in. But after seeing some updated photos on Google showing a tidy interior and tasty-looking food, I decided to give it a try. Glad I did!
⸻
Atmosphere & Vibe:
• Don’t judge a book by its cover (or its past!)—this spot has been under new ownership for the last two years and it shows. It’s clearly had a refurb and feels more like a welcoming community pub now, not a dated “old man boozer.”
• LGBT+ friendly, which is refreshing and appreciated considering the bar’s previous reputation.
• Dog friendly too—a bonus for those with furry companions!
⸻
Food & Drink:
• Everything felt freshly prepared—not pre-packaged or microwaved.
• Real chips, homemade lasagna—proper pub food done right.
• Menu had a nice variety without being overwhelming.
• My meal and drink came to £17.22 (meal + Coke).
⸻
Service:
• The owner, Aaron (pronounced ERRon), was running the show solo during my visit. Despite this, he managed to juggle bar service, food orders, and table care like a pro.
• Warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming—great hospitality.
⸻
Facilities:
• Toilets were clean and stocked with nice soap. While not quite as up-to-date as the main bar area, they were still perfectly presentable.

Overall:
A great little find. Fresh food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Would happily return
Came here for lunch with my partner midday on a Wednesday so it wasn’t overly busy but had a few tables in. Great music playing, staff were lovely and attentive. Food was tasty and we didn’t have a long wait. Highly recommend the crumble and ginger cake. Both served warm with a choice of cream, ice cream or custard.
Phoned ahead to book a quiet area to eat and was allocated a nice spot on arrival. We ordered a beef dinner and a small mince and dumplings and the size of the standard beef dinner was ridiculously large. The beef melted in the mouth and was cut very thick. The mince and dumplings was still a healthy portion, even for what they said was a small plate. Unfortunately we could not finish our dinners but thoroughly enjoyed them.
The service was excellent and we had ordered dessert’s but had to take them to go as we were so full.
Great dinner but so filling.
