About This Pub

Ah, The Falcon – it's one of those traditional pubs that just feels like a proper British gem, tucked away in St Albans. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's all about that heartfelt welcome; Nicky and Craig really go the extra mile to make everyone feel part of the gang, which is just lovely for a casual catch-up. The atmosphere is spot on, with friendly faces around, a solid pool table for a bit of banter, and those live music nights that can turn an ordinary evening into something special. Oh, and it's nice to see they offer a decent coffee option for a relaxed start to the day. On the downside, though, the hours can be a tad restrictive, and it might not always be buzzing – some folks have mentioned it's not as lively as in the past, which could disappoint if you're after a more vibrant spot. Still, it's a solid choice for anyone craving an authentic pub experience without the crowds, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area for a proper, unpretentious night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff, especially Nicky and Craig, are incredibly welcoming and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It has a lovely, friendly atmosphere with a real community vibe, perfect for chatting with locals and enjoying the company.
  • There's a good pool table for some casual games, and they host regular live music events that add a fun, lively touch.
  • It's a great spot for a morning coffee or a relaxed pint, with that classic pub charm that's becoming rarer these days.
Cons
  • The opening hours can be a bit limited or inconsistent, which might make it tricky to pop in spontaneously.
  • It doesn't seem as busy as it once was, based on some feedback, so it could feel quieter than you'd hope on certain nights.
  • There's no website or strong online presence, making it harder to check out the latest details before heading over.

I Love this Pub and I have made it my local, there aren’t many real pubs left like the Falcon, it’s so friendly and you are made to feel really welcome by locals and especially by Nicky and Craig that run it.. it’s got a good pool table and there are regular live music events, which are always excellent for a good night out. You can also watch live sport here.. plus the Moretti larger is superb. 👍🏻🍺😀

Really lovely pub, and is one of a few places to have coffee around this area on a weekday morning. Felt warmly welcomed and greeted. The cappuccino is really nice + got offered a paper to read while waiting = awesome) If you got you car serviced at the service station nearby, it’s definitely a good place to wait in :)

I visited for the first time in 40 years. Not as busy as it was those days but, still has the same charm about it. Very friendly staff and customers.
