About This Pub
Ah, The Eagle – it's one of those cosy Norwich spots that really pulls you in with its focus on fresh, local grub and a solid range of beers that'll keep any ale enthusiast happy. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, their Sunday roasts are something special, with folks raving about the tender meats and all the trimmings, making it a brilliant choice for a weekend get-together. The beer garden's a real highlight too, especially on a sunny day, and being dog-friendly means it's perfect if you're popping in with the pup. Prices are fair, so you won't feel short-changed, and they've got that independent freehouse charm that makes it feel like a proper community hub. On the flip side, though, service isn't always up to scratch; a couple of people mentioned it feeling a bit impersonal or even cold at times, which could put a dampener on things if you're after that extra touch of warmth. And while the food's generally a hit, it's not flawless – some have compared it unfavourably to nearby rivals, so it might depend on what you're in the mood for. All in all, I'd say it's worth a visit for the good vibes and great drinks, but go in with realistic expectations and maybe book ahead for those popular roasts to avoid any disappointments.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially their Sunday roasts and BBQs – I've heard from mates that the belly pork and chicken are real winners, making it a top choice for a hearty meal.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of beers, being an independent freehouse and even making it into the Good Beer Guide, so you're in for some cracking local brews.
-
The beer garden is a proper gem, perfect for soaking up the sun or enjoying a relaxed evening with friends, and it's dog-friendly too, which is always a bonus if you're out with your furry mate.
-
Service is generally warm and efficient, with plenty of positive feedback on the friendly staff who make you feel right at home.
-
It's moderately priced, so you get good value without breaking the bank, and they've got a nice variety on the menu that changes with seasonal ingredients.
Cons
-
Service can sometimes feel a bit off, like in one instance where it was described as cold and not very personalised, which might leave you feeling a tad overlooked.
-
The food doesn't always hit the mark for everyone; a few folks have said it's just average compared to other pubs nearby, so it might not wow you every time.
-
You might have to get up and sort things yourself if you're after more drinks or extras during a meal, which can be a bit of a nuisance and spoil the flow.

Food was under average, comparing with other similar pubs in the area. Service was cold, like they didn’t want to be there, not personalised to customers, if having a meal and you need to get up every time you decide to have something more, you end up giving up. Nice beer garden.
We came here for a late lunch today. The belly pork roast was delicious. My partner had the wings and halloumi. Definitely complements to the chef. The guy with the spacers and mullet was attentive with top marks from us. We'll definitely be back

A very good Sunday lunch with everything included on the plate. Two of us had chicken which was excellent. Another had lamb also excellent I had the pork very good too. Service was efficient and friendly would definitely return
I live in Norwich since five years and I have been in this fantastic pub restaurant only recently. Now, we are going here almost every weekend. They serve very nice food as you can see from the pictures. The menu is rich. There is also a nice garden on the back with tables. Moreover, they are dog friendly.
