About This Pub

Ah, The Durell Arms – it's one of those Fulham gems that really aims to be the heart of the neighbourhood, and from what I've gathered, it often hits the mark with its friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. The food and drinks are spot on, especially with their new menu full of pub favourites and fun deals like cheap wings on Wednesdays or Prosecco Fridays, making it a brilliant spot for a casual catch-up or watching the footie. They're also great for families and even your furry mates, with loads of events to keep things lively. On the downside, it's a shame when service lags behind during peak times, or if you run into issues with the bouncers being a bit heavy-handed – I've heard a few stories that left a sour taste. Still, with its solid overall feel and recent spruce-up, it's worth giving it a go; just keep an eye on the timing and maybe book ahead to dodge any potential faff. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, always up for a chat and quick with a smile.
  • They've got a cracking new menu with fresh pub classics, great deals like Wing Wednesday, and specials to kick off the weekend.
  • It's a welcoming spot for families and dogs, with plenty of events like quiz nights, live sports, and even a function room for gatherings.
  • The atmosphere is spot on after their recent refurb, making it a proper community hub in Fulham with a decent selection of drinks.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit or miss when it's busy, with not enough staff behind the bar, leading to long waits.
  • There have been some dodgy experiences with security, like bouncers being overly aggressive or unfair, which puts a dampener on things.
  • They sometimes run out of popular options, such as real ales, especially during quieter periods or before a big change.
  • Table bookings and event setups haven't always gone smoothly, with a few tales of disorganised arrivals.

The Durell Arms on Fulham Road and Munster Street. A lovely pub with super staff. Don't rush down here yet, it is about to be refurbished. Stock is being run down. Unfortunately, no real ales on at the moment. It is still a marvellous place, and promises to be even better by the end of June! Will visit again when it reopens.

Absolutely horrific service. If I could rate this no stars I absolutely would. Never enough people behind the bar. Those that are there seem in absolutely no rush to serve anybody. I booked a dinner for 12 people in December and I arrived and the table wasn’t set, they just threw a couple tables together on the spot for me. Then when we went to order food they said they had a function so the kitchen couldn’t accomodate orders for a few hours. Why accept my booking then? Or could you not communicate that earlier? Management need to reevaluate their rostering and processes because something is wrong. Never bother with this place not sure how anyone keeps going back.

Unhappy with one of the bouncers, they picked mainly on guys, pretty much treat them like jerks. I was there with my boyfriend and the big tall black guy whom I think is dating the blonde girl behind the bar, was treating all guys like vermin and all girls no matter how drunk or disruptive can get away with anything. Also, after more than 3 years of coming to durrels nearly every week, we were now told we couldn't go in at 11:15, although loads of people were exiting. That just meant more business for little blue door opposite which had excellent bouncer and bar service . In addition, during game day recently, the bar staff engaged in really rowdy scary dialogue with the punters, to the point where a fight was going to break. The management of course didnt care about derby days on a Sunday , so no bouncers there and the atmosphere again simply lacked. Disappointing Durrels, unsure what management is thinking overall, but it doesn't work. Shame

🚇 Parsons Green 🍺 £7.00 Estrella Galicia The Durell Arms is located on a busy stretch of Fulham Road in SW6. The nearest Tube is Parsons Green. This imposing Victorian corner pub was built in 1886. I would presume it is named after Durrell Road, which is the next road to the left of the pub. This is a large one bar pub which has three distinct areas. The main bar area is at the front and has plenty of poser tables and a large screen. To the left is a number of raised comfy booths with a Tv in each one. At the back is a dining area with panelled walls and a huge atrium above. The servery is ‘L’ shaped and is accessible from the front and boothed area. The decor consists of a boarded and chequered floor, a beautiful ornate fireplace, but the star of the show is the marvellous decorative ceiling. At the front of the pub is a small outside space behind some foliage. The beer line up was impressive and had a varied selection of well known and lesser widespread brews. I decided on an Estrella Galicia, my pint was excellent, price point was to be expected in this part of town. The food menu is British classics, Fish & Chips costs £18.00, Roasts take centre stage on a Sunday. I arrived just before 3pm on a sunny but chilly Saturday afternoon in March. The pub was fairly busy with a younger crowd in attendance watching Italy v Ireland Six Nations match. The atmosphere was upbeat and lively at the front bar area and a little more laidback where the booths are. The service was great, the team on duty were welcoming and friendly. Prior to visiting, I was expecting a more Gastropub experience but I was pleasantly surprised to find a thriving drinking environment. A top beer selection, some nice decorative touches and a buzzy atmosphere made for a splendid time spent here. The @durellarms gets a thumbs up from me. 📅 15th March 2025 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻

Passing through and decided to pop in for a drink. Friendly staff and a decent choice of drinks available. Menu looked good but we didn't eat. Would definitely visit again.
