About This Pub
Ah, The Duke of Wellington – it's one of those pubs that just makes you smile as soon as you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic homely feel, with the staff going out of their way to make you feel welcome, like you're catching up with old mates. The food stands out a mile; that Sunday roast sounds like a proper winner, with folks raving about how tasty and generous it is – though mind you, the large portions might leave you defeated if you're not up for a challenge! It's ideally placed in a quaint village spot, great for winding down after a stroll, and even camper vans are welcome in the car park. On the flip side, the opening times can be a bit puzzling, with some sessions ending earlier than you'd hope, and it's a shame there's no fresh chatter online to keep things lively. All in all, if you're after a relaxed, friendly spot for a bite and a drink, it's worth a visit, but maybe check ahead to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially that Sunday lunch – it's a real treat and gets rave reviews for being delicious and hearty.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming; you'll feel right at home from the moment you walk in, with a personal touch that makes it feel like a proper local spot.
-
It's a charming village pub with a lovely atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a walk or even parking up in your camper for a peaceful stay.
-
Being family-owned adds a warm, community vibe, and it's clear the folks running it are passionate about what they do.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit confusing or limited, with some days wrapping up early, which might not suit everyone looking for a late-night pint.
-
There's not much buzz online lately, as there haven't been any recent reviews, so it might feel a tad quiet or overlooked these days.
-
The website's a bit of a letdown – it's not accessible, which makes it tricky to get the latest info before heading over.

Lovely pub, food was excellent and staff very friendly and welcoming.
A very friendly welcome from the staff on arrival after a great walk on Ince Marsh
Absolutely beautiful pub... Julie the landlady will make you feel welcome and tell you all the wonderful things to see and do in the country village of Ince....will definitely be back.
I stayed in Eggbert my camper in the car park and didn't even need to purchase anything...but best of all is this little pub is dog friendly and has water bowls and treats for our 4 legged family members..my Harrybeau 🐾 was spoilt rotten. Thank you all x
Lovely family owned local pub.
Sunday lunch is stunning. Not sentence I would dish out lightly when it comes to a good Sunday dinner. I cannot however recommend the "large" Sunday lunch unless you are a professional eater! I failed miserably.
Great place and lovely people.
Even better at a good price.
The new management of the Duke of Wellington are off to a flying start. Went here tonight with my partner and found a very friendly pub with great food. They have just started serving food after taking over, and it was very very good. I had the garlic mushrooms followed by the cheeseburger and my partner had the soup and hunters chicken. All the food was well presented and most importantly freshly cooked and tasted delicious.
They deserve to succeed in the future.
