About This Pub
Ah, The Chester Fields – it's one of those places that really stands out just outside Chester, blending a rustic country pub feel with a bit of restaurant flair, and it's clear why it's picked up some awards. From chatting about the reviews, the food is a real highlight; think hearty, well-presented dishes that leave you feeling satisfied, like those mixed grills or anniversary meals that folks rave about. The staff are genuinely lovely, putting in that extra effort for events like weddings, where everything from the attention to detail to the scenic views makes it all feel magical and personal. It's got this cosy, converted barn charm that's perfect for unwinding with a drink in the garden or celebrating something big. On the downside, though, the menu isn't the most extensive, and if you're visiting on a busy evening, you might find a few options off the table, which could put a dampener on things if you're set on a particular dish. Still, with such a solid overall vibe and mostly glowing feedback, I'd say it's worth a visit for a relaxed get-together – just keep expectations in check for variety, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

We had our wedding at The Chester Fields Wedding venue last week. From start to finish the staff and Vicky the wedding coordinator was absolutely incredible. The attention to detail was amazing.
The venue is stunning and the perfect place if you are looking for a relaxed rustic vibe wedding. The food was incredible and all our guests could not compliment it enough we even had some guests going to the local butchers the next day to purchase some of the sausages!! there was plenty for everyone and they catered to everyone's dietary requirements and nothing was too much trouble. Everything was seamless and all the preparation was done for us. We did not have to do anything and everything was coordinated so well.
We even have a couple of friends due to come and view for their potential wedding as they were so impressed!!
The children loved playing outside in the gardens and we had some gorgeous pictures done in the fields!!
Would highly recommend here for your wedding!
We celebrated our 8 year anniversary here and it was perfect.
Before dining, we enjoyed a drink in the garden whilst the sun was shining along with spectacular views.
The venue is beautiful, we sat upstairs and the service was second to none.
The food was delicious and plentiful we had the salt & pepper squid and prawn & chorizo for starters then had the ribeye steaks which were cooked to perfection.
After our meal, we returned outside to the garden to enjoy the last of our drinks and was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary pudding and anniversary board. Such a lovely touch.
We didn't catch the name of the young girl who served us all night (long mousey hair) but she is a credit to your establishment.
We were disappointed to say the least with our visit.
To be clear, I have emailed the restaurant as I am always reluctant to review a restaurant negatively without giving them a chance first..
We visited on a Saturday eve at 7:30. The menu is quite limited already and three items were already taken off when we arrived. I would understand if it were late on but it’s basically key service time. You’d expect them to have their full menu to serve.
After struggling to find something to order, we both picked a black and blue burger. It’s advertised with caramelized onions, blue cheese and the waiter actually suggested it. It arrived with nothing on it expect lettuce and mayo. This was mentioned to the waiter who returned to say the chef said there was already. We both picked up the bun to show the fact there was nothing. It almost made us feel stupid and that we had made it up.
He then brought cold blue cheese. The burger was a massive disappointment. It was not the fine dining experience that is promised to be on the website.
Our bill came to a whopping £90 for the 2 burgers, 2 starters and bottle of house red. I felt totally ripped off.
On top of this, items didn’t arrive such as our onion rings. Be aware, the restaurant also adds gratuity. I just hope that weddings don’t receive food of this quality.
I have emailed the restaurant and allowed them the chance to find a solution. They offered 25% off and wanted us to make another booking. I wouldn’t risk spending our hard earned money on that.
Honestly some of the best food I've had at a wedding, the service was brilliant and the staff were fantastic.
Very friendly staff, good big portions, presented very nicely. Was a very good price as every Tuesday through January 50% off 2 courses, and I'm told by staff it is the same deal every 3rd Tuesday of the month normally. I went for the mixed grill pictured below. Also the interior design of the whole place was beautiful. Will definitely be coming back the next time we visit Chester Zoo as it's only 10min away by car. Thank-you.
