About This Pub
You know, when I think about Shrewsbury Arms, it's got that real appeal as a tucked-away spot in the Cheshire countryside – just the kind of place you'd pop into after a wander or a trip to the zoo. The food's a standout; their pizzas and hearty mains are spot on, leaving you feeling properly satisfied. The staff can be dead lovely and make you feel right at home, and with the kids' play area, it's brilliant for family outings without the hassle. But, let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing – I've heard tales of service going a bit pear-shaped, like waiting ages for drinks or the team thinning out early, which can turn a nice evening into a bit of a letdown. Still, with its solid reputation, it's worth giving it a go if you're nearby, maybe on a quieter day to avoid any potential niggles. All in all, it's a decent shout for good grub and a relaxed vibe, as long as you keep expectations balanced.
Pros and Cons

Family-friendly vibes with a kids' play area outside and plenty of parking, making it easy for everyone to enjoy.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit inconsistent, with some experiences involving long waits for orders or staff shortages that cut the evening short.
-
The place can get uncomfortably hot inside, especially near the fire, which might make it tough to relax and enjoy your meal.
-
It lacks a bit of that cosy, traditional pub charm, so it might not be the spot for lingering over drinks all night.
-
Booking and table service hiccups have been mentioned, like not being checked on promptly, which can dampen the experience.

A Hidden Gem in Cheshire
Nestled in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, you'll discover a tranquil pub that's a true hidden gem. Their pizzas are on par with the best Italian restaurants, and the menu offers a diverse range of amazing food. The staff are consistently attentive and very pleasant, making for a delightful dining experience.
We booked a table for 8 people on a Sunday. On arrival we were shown to our table. No one asked us if we would like any drinks so we ordered directly from the bar. We waited nearly an hour before having to ask a passing waitress if we could order as she had just taken another tables order - they had arrived after us.
It was over an hour before our meals came out. Everything was very hot, dry and looked and tasted like it had been sat under a heat lamp for quite a while. One meal was forgotten and we had to ask for this. This arrived looking much fresher than the other meals. We then waited a long time for the table to be cleared and a dessert menu was offered. As this was a special occasion we ordered dessert and waited another half an hour for this to arrive - by this time the pub was nearly empty. The waitress practically threw plate after plate for us to sort out onto the end of the table in front of our 3 year old. We had to ask for cutlery. And again we had to order drinks from the bar - which wasn’t easy as there was no one staffing this area, when someone did come out I just asked for tap water as I thought this would be the quickest option. On leaving and paying for our meal you could see all the staff had left or leaving.
We will not be visiting again despite having several nice meals in the past.
I have emailed the pub directly as I wanted to give them this feedback however I have not had any response in over a week. I do understand Sundays are a busy day however I would expect to see adequate staffing levels because of this.
It all started so well.
But then most of the staff were sent home.
So as it became impossible to find anyone at the bar, or anywhere. Most of the customers followed suit and also went home.
Our night out with friends. And we were all back in our house by 19:30.
The staff can make or ruin a place. Here the staff are good but the management is poor at best.
A pub full of customers and the decision is to send the staff home.
I am about to answer how much we spent. Bear in mind it would have been a lot more if the staff and atmosphere had have lasted.
Nice fresh beer, poured well which was the main highlight. Its a very well appointed country pub/restaurant more on the food side. Its a clean nodern place with a kids play area outside and some seating there too. Also planty parking. It lacked a little charm and comfort for staying for more than a pint or two. Nice staff there and quick service as kitchen was closed.
Called in after a visit to the Zoo.
Food excellent
Staff friendly
The building was so hot, we were sat in the room with the fire and struggled eating we were that warm.
