Whilst the dry spy is A really nice venue, the drinks are massively overpriced. £11.50 for a double vodka and Coke is absolutely excessive given that the vodka served is just Smirnoff. A beer is around £6. And the toilet whilst partially well decorated has broken fixings and fittings. Tonight with a group of friends and we all found the pricing excessive. We weren’t able to use the upper Terrace as there was a birthday party going on, staff were pleasant. But this is Bromsgrove and I don’t understand the premium pricing for basic drinks. I understand stand for cocktails but absolutely not for your regular drinks. I understand it is decorated to a higher standard than other establishments on the High Street, but they are asking considerably more money for the drinks than I believe is reasonable for a small town. There’s also a certain level of Eliteism for want of a better word. Which I think is the reason that they can get away with their pricing. if you’re going to charge excessive amounts and then restrict the one area that most people want to sit in During the summer without prior warning. to a closed off area, then you need to provide something special and it’s simply doesn’t. There was actually somebody upstairs with a Newborn baby with really loud music, which I thought was Rather disconcerting As it’s not particularly healthy for the child to be in that environment, and perhaps the staff or The owners Should have stepped in and asked for the family to leave. We only came across this when we went to use the Terrace to be turned away as it was a private function. No disrespect to the people hiring it However, the dry spy really need to tell Their customers before they pay for their overpriced drinks l, as downstairs was very warm and uncomfortable for our group. For Me all hype no substance. again, I will absolutely applaud the decor, but decor does not make for atmosphere or demand such a high price range. I would suggest that if the upstairs is going to be used for functions, the consumer is given advance warning before purchasing drinks as we would not have stayed in those circumstances.
Can’t fault it,
Came on today Sunday 25th, had a pork Sunday dinner. It was soo good, large portions, fresh veg, presented so well, lovely environment, decor and cleanliness.
Great service and good atmosphere with the fab live singer.
Would definitely come back with friends and family 👍🏼
Brunch is over priced for a tiny portion of food, I had steak and eggs had one tiny egg and asked for the steak rare it was well done tough as an old boot and like a child's portion, my daughter and fiancees food was awful aswell. Service was good until we wanted to leave no one came to collect our things or give us the bill so we had to go down to the bar and pay. The rooftop is nice but would definitely not recommend for brunch
Four of us have just had Sunday lunch. The food was outstanding and the portions were huge. The waitress's were very attentive.
My brother received a birthday card signed by the staff containing a £10 gift voucher, off his next meal, plus a personalised birthday dessert.
Our pet hates when dining out are: long delays between the main course's arrival and then the veg, then having to wait for sauces/condiment, by which time the food is cold.
None of that at the Dry Spy, everything arrived together, plus, lashing's of tasty gravy.
The desserts were just as outstanding. Will do definitely return again
The restaurant has a cool retro vibe, delicious food, and fantastic service. With distinct sections to explore, from the cozy ground floor to the charming rooftop terrace, this place offers something for everyone. The quirky decor adds to the ambiance, while the delicious dishes and amazing cocktails ensure a memorable dining experience. Staff always smiling, and very thoughtful.
