About This Pub
Ah, The Dog and Gun – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a cosy spot to unwind after a long day, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the reviews and a quick look at their site, the food really steals the show; think hearty meals like calamari starters or maple glazed pork belly that folks are raving about, all at prices that won't break the bank. The service is spot on too – stories of staff like Naomi being super helpful and making sure you're comfortable really warm the heart. Plus, with a spacious beer garden and being dog-friendly, it's brilliant for a relaxed afternoon with the family or your furry mate in tow. On the flip side, though, some drinks come in a bit steep, so you might end up nursing that pint a little longer than planned. And while the atmosphere is generally lovely, it can get a tad lively and noisy on busier nights, which might not suit everyone if you're after a peaceful pint. All in all, it's a solid choice for a mid-week meal or Sunday roast, especially if you're in the area near Walsall or Telford – just go in with your eyes open to those little niggles, and you're in for a treat.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious and offers great value for money, with a wide range of options including fixed-price menus, kids' choices, and even vegan and vegetarian dishes.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive – shout out to Naomi for going above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome, like sorting out a noisy table without any fuss.
-
It's got a really warm and inviting atmosphere, with lovely decor and a spacious beer garden that's perfect for relaxing with mates or the family, and it's even dog-friendly which is a nice touch.
-
Convenient location near attractions like Wolverhampton Racecourse and some cracking golf clubs, making it an easy spot to pop into after a day out.
Cons
-
Some drinks, like wines and soft options, can be a bit on the pricey side, which might catch you off guard if you're not expecting it.
-
It can get quite noisy at times, especially during busy evenings, so if you're after a quiet chat, you might need to plan around that.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, but generally, it's open most of the day, so it's worth double-checking if you're heading out early or late.

Noami provided really great customer service this evening. Acknowledged that we were in a noisy table and offered to move us and was very attentive and helpful throughout the service. Very much appreciated during a very busy evening.
The food was tasty and good value as well
This was by far the best meal out we have had in a long time. Hubby had the calamari to start and then mixed grill, I had beer battered mushrooms to start and then maple glazed pork belly. Could not fault it one bit. Staff were lovely and pleasant, particularly Naomi. This was our first visit but definitely will not be the last! What a gem!
Great food for very good value. The manager was super friendly too
Foods are freshly made, the atmosphere is giving good vibes, wines are expensive do not know about cocktail, but overall experience is excellent
A lovely and well put together with ample parking and dog friendly area to the pub.
The pub had lovely decor and a great menu. You could even order delivery from here! The food was amazing and fairly priced. The drinks were dear for soft drinks but you can’t win them all!
Love that they had a dog friendly area as not everyone wants to sit with a pooch so nice they get an area away from rest of pub. Great touch with a help yourself dog table with water, bowls, treats and a bed! Really good!
Had such a lovely time 🌟
