About This Pub

Ah, the Devonshire Arms – it's one of those classic pubs in Coventry that really pulls you in with its welcoming atmosphere and that genuine community feel. I love how the team there pride themselves on fresh, honest grub at fair prices, whether you're tucking into their famous sizzling skillets, burgers, or even some vegan options – and the portions are spot on for a satisfying meal. It's brilliant for catching up with mates over a pint, watching the footie, or just unwinding after a long day, and they're always up for supporting local causes, which gives it that extra heart. But, fair's fair, there are times when the food doesn't quite live up to the hype, like hearing about dry burgers or meals that seem a bit off, which is a shame when you're expecting that sizzle. Overall, with a solid 4.2 rating, it's still a great spot for a relaxed night out, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe skip it if you're after something foolproof.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel right at home from the get-go.
  • They use fresh ingredients for their menus, with plenty of options for veggies and vegans, and the portions are generous and tasty.
  • Great value for money, especially with their daily offers and classic pub grub like sizzling skillets and flame-grilled burgers.
  • It's a proper community spot, supporting local charities and offering a free function area for groups, plus they show sports on the telly for a lively atmosphere.
Cons
  • Food quality can be inconsistent, with some meals turning out dry or poorly prepared, like that disappointing burger or chewy chicken.
  • There have been occasional slip-ups in service or orders, which might leave you a bit frustrated if things don't go smoothly.

Recent Reviews

Disappointed to leave a poor Review but our food today was terrible, saw a guy that is usually behind the bar dressed as a chef.I had a burger that was dry and burnt and my mother had crispy sweet chilly chicken, well it was chewy and I think they forgot the chicken.Refund given as the one meal was not fit for consumption. Mary was professional as always and completely understood.I do wonder if whomever was cooking on this day was qualified as the food on other days was far superior.

I had the halloumi flatbed with added tandoori skewer and it was like the kitchen knew what I wanted without me having to ask. Great taste, great presentation and the waffle fries are actually addictive. It’s a great value for money pub and they even had the Cov match on, with sound. QUALITY

Great Local Pub! I recently visited Devonshire arms and was absolutely impressed! It’s the kind of place that makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with just the right balance of cozy charm and lively energy. The food was fantastic—generous portions, freshly prepared, and packed with flavor. Whether it’s classic pub dishes or something a bit more adventurous, there’s something for everyone on the menu. Their drinks selection is equally impressive, with a great range of beers, wines, and spirits to choose from. What really stood out, though, was the friendly service. The staff are attentive, approachable, and genuinely seem to care about ensuring you have a good time. Whether you’re popping in for a quick pint, a meal with friends, or even just to enjoy the vibe, this pub hits all the right notes. It’s a true gem in the community, and I’ll definitely be returning soon!

Went in on a Saturday afternoon, not too many people in but they had football on the tv and the bar staff was friendly so we ordered an all day breakfast 1 classic and 1 large. The food looked fantastic and was hot and well cooked with plenty on the plate ( compliments to the chef ). We will definitely be coming back here to eat again. Thank you for a great couple of hours.
