About This Pub
You know, when I chat about Puss in Boots, it's one of those places that just sticks in your mind for all the right reasons – it's tucked away in Stockport and feels like a proper local gem. The carvery is a standout; it's wholesome, well-priced, and I've heard from mates that it's perfect for a Sunday lunch after a long walk, with loads of options that leave you feeling sorted. The staff really make it shine too – they're polite, quick on their feet, and go out of their way to find you a table even if you haven't booked, which is a nice touch in a busy spot. It's family-friendly through and through, with a relaxed vibe that suits everyone from kids to grandparents, and it's great to see they cater for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten concerns. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; I've come across a few comments about the odd meal not quite living up to expectations, like a steak that was a bit tough, and that service charge tacked on can be a bit of a surprise when you're settling up. Still, with such a high rating and heaps of positive feedback, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time overall. If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go – it's worth it for the atmosphere and the ales alone, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially that carvery – it's a proper delight with plenty of choices and great value for a hearty meal.
-
Staff are super friendly and efficient, always making sure you're well looked after, like Jess and Alfie who get rave reviews for their top-notch service.
-
It's got a warm, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for families or popping in with the dog during the week – feels like a real community hub.
-
They've got a cracking selection of Robinsons ales and drinks, plus options for vegetarians, vegans, and those avoiding gluten, which is brilliant for everyone's tastes.
Cons
-
Every now and then, the food might not hit the mark, like a steak that's a bit chewy, which is a shame when the rest is so good.
-
That automatic service charge on the bill can feel a tad annoying, as it adds up unexpectedly even when the service is already spot on.
-
Dogs aren't allowed on Sundays, which might put a damper on things if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off.

Visited on Friday evening and the service was very good despite it being busy. We came for a meal and drinks served by Alfie. He was on point checking we was okay and if we needed anything. Very polite and friendly. The food is lovely here and I always look forward to visiting.
A well priced, delicious Sunday carvery in a delightful family friendly atmosphere with helpful staff - what more could you ask for?
My girlfriend and I were on our way back from a long walk in the Peak District and fancied some wholesome Sunday lunch. We were properly sorted out with a big plate of tasty grub!
A faultless selection of fresh meats, veg and all the trimmings that was excellent value for money.
Highly recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Had a carvery from here and it was excellent. Went again a couple of days later and had their 10oz sirloin steak rare with triple cooked chips which tasted amazing, the sirloin was a bit chewy but still excellent. The staff are lovely here but it's annoying they put service charge on the bill which is not needed in the UK.
Wow. This was amazing. Lots to choose from. I ordered the carvery. The service was excellent, polite and very efficient. A regular Carvery was great value and the Large Caevery you get a lot more extra meat too. Definitely worth trying 😎👌😍
