About This Pub

So, chatting about The Crown and Cushion, it's one of those classic pubs that really warms you up with its friendly staff who go the extra mile to make everyone feel comfortable – it's like popping round to a mate's for a drink. The atmosphere is spot on, all cosy and inviting, ideal for a laid-back evening, and they've nailed the drinks with a fantastic array of beers, lagers, and even a top-notch gin bar that could keep you entertained for hours. The food gets a big thumbs up too, with piping hot dishes and portions that'll leave you more than satisfied. On the downside, it can feel a tad empty at certain times, like in the afternoon, which might not suit if you're after a lively crowd, and there's that one seating spot that's a bit awkward and could trip you up if you're not careful. All in all, with its solid 4.2 rating, it's a gem for a relaxed night out, but it's worth keeping in mind those little niggles to set your expectations right.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in
  • The atmosphere is just lovely, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates over a pint
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers and lagers on tap, which is always a winner for us beer enthusiasts
  • It's family-friendly with solid food options – meals are hot, generous, and hit the spot
  • The gin bar is excellent, and there's some great entertainment to keep things lively
Cons
  • It can get a bit quiet during off-peak hours, like late afternoons, so it might not always feel buzzing
  • That small raised seating area near the windows isn't the most practical, especially after a few drinks
  • There's no website or online presence, which makes it tricky to check out menus or events in advance

I called in late afternoon, so it was quite empty, as you would expect at that time of day. I can't comment on the food , because I didn't eat. The manager was very welcoming, and they had a great selection of beer and lagers at the pumps.

Local little pub with very friendly bar staff who will go out of their way to help you. Decor is looking very nice now especially with the new seating however the small raised seating area near the windows isnt practical for those who may easily forget there is s step up/down after a few but other than that everything else is great even the outside seating areas. Not had anything to eat in here for a very long time so cannot comment on that however friends have said it is very good. Downside i would say is perhaps it no longer has a summer 'happy hour' from 5pm til 7pm midweek as it once had so perhaps that could be something to look at introducing back for summer.. 👍🍺😊x

Lovely place, family friendly. Meals are served hot and the portions are more than enough! Staff are always pleasant and very accommodating. The gin bar is excellent! The entertainment is great too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to go for a drink or a meal!!
