About This Pub

Ah, The Crown – it's one of those classic pubs that really captures that nostalgic British vibe, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place is full of lovely people, both the regulars and the team behind the bar, making it a great spot for a casual catch-up over a pint. The beer selection stands out, especially if you're a fan of something like Stella, and it's wonderfully cosy and welcoming to dogs, which is always a plus for us animal lovers. They're even working on expanding the menu, so if you're into simple, no-fuss food like a cheese board, it's worth keeping an eye on. On the downside, though, there have been a few tales of the landlord not being the friendliest, which could put a dampener on your visit, and the decor does feel a bit tired and in need of a spruce-up. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening if you're local or passing through, but I'd say go in with an open mind – the good bits make it endearing, while the not-so-great ones remind you it's not without its flaws. Fancy giving it a try sometime?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and regulars that make you feel right at home.
  • They've got a great selection of beers, like a top-notch Stella that's always a hit.
  • It's a cosy spot that's dog-friendly, ideal for popping in with your furry mate for a relaxed afternoon.
  • The food is basic but decent, and they're gearing up to expand the menu soon, which sounds promising.
Cons
  • There have been a few off-putting moments with the landlord, like some reports of rude behaviour that could spoil the vibe.
  • The place feels a bit dated and could really do with a refurb to freshen things up.
  • Service can be inconsistent at times, based on what folks have shared, so you might have a mixed experience.

This place is a bit dated and could do with a refurb, I believe mostly locals who probably live nearby when I attended to listen to a band called Harripaul, who were excellent. Although quite a small place it had a nice friendly atmosphere. Didn't eat there. I only had drinks.

Rather biased review as the landlord is a good friend and iv worked there previously. Lovely old school pub, lovely people, regulars and staff alike. Shame the breweries and government are making it difficult to stay open. Great pub, great drink, great staff and customers.
