About This Pub

Ah, the Cotton Tree Inn – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a local gem in Failsworth, Manchester, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this inviting atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, whether you're a regular or just dropping in for the first time. I love how they've packed in so many screens for the footie or racing, and that beer garden is just spot on for a relaxed afternoon with friends, especially with the undercover bit for when the weather turns. They're all about community too, with things like live music, quizzes, and even supporting local charities, which gives it that extra heartwarming touch. The drinks are spot on and at good value, making it a solid spot for a proper pint. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – the food prices can sting a bit if you're looking for a bite, and sticking to cash only feels a tad outdated these days, so you might need to come prepared. Still, overall, it's a place I'd recommend for a laugh and a catch-up; just keep an eye on the opening times to make sure you're not caught out. It's got that balance of fun and community spirit that makes pub visits memorable.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely top-notch – friendly, quick, and make you feel right at home, which really adds to the cosy vibe.
  • It's got that Tardis magic; looks small from outside but opens up inside with plenty of space, making it perfect for a pint or watching the footie on multiple screens.
  • The beer garden is a gem, with undercover seating and even a screen for outdoor viewing – ideal for a sunny day or catching the game al fresco.
  • Great value for drinks, serving up proper pints at decent prices, and they're all about supporting the community with events like karaoke, live music, and quizzes.
  • It's a welcoming spot for social gatherings, whether it's a function, a gender reveal, or just popping in for a chat, with a real community feel.
Cons
  • The food can be a bit on the pricey side, which might put a dampener on things if you're planning a full meal alongside your drinks.
  • It's cash only, from what I've heard, which is a bit of a hassle in this card-happy world – means you might need to plan ahead with some notes.
  • As it's mostly frequented by regulars, newcomers might take a minute to settle in, even though everyone seems welcoming overall.
  • The operating hours can seem a tad confusing based on what's listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid turning up when it's quiet or closed early.

Looks tiny but like doctor who's TARDIS it's bigger on the inside. Plenty of screens for the footie nice garden with a screen outside too undercover. Top staff decent prices you'd have to find an excuse not to go here. 10/10 deffo

A lovely afternoon had by all for my nephews gender reveal. The pub was spacious outside with plenty of seating. Other than the food being quite costly, all round was a great experience 👍

Nice boozer. Couldn't get a table inside but wasn't an issue as there was plenty of seating outside. The landlord even popped out to apologise and let us know when some seats where free inside. The draft beer was perfect. My only criticism is there's no contactless payment, cash only.
