About This Pub

Ah, The Corner House – it's one of those hidden gems in Cambridge that I've come to appreciate for its blend of cosy pub atmosphere and authentic Nepalese flavours. Picture this: you're settling in on Newmarket Road, maybe after a wander around the city, and you're greeted by staff who are genuinely chuffed to see you, all smiles and eager to recommend their favourites. The food really steals the show – think succulent goat curry or those gorgeous dumplings that folks rave about; it's fresh, packed with flavour, and pairs brilliantly with their selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. Plus, if you're into sports, the big screens make it a top choice for watching the big games without missing a beat. On the flip side, I have to say, the menu's had a bit of a shake-up with the remodelling, and while the new offerings are spot on for Nepalese lovers, you might find yourself yearning for some of the old classics like pasta if that's more your thing. And watch out, some dishes can pack a spicy punch that might not suit everyone, so it's handy to mention if you prefer it milder. All in all, it's an affordable, laid-back spot that's perfect for a casual catch-up or a quick takeaway, but it's the friendly vibe that keeps me coming back for more – honestly, give it a go if you're in the area, you won't regret it!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Nepalese food is an absolute delight, with standout dishes like goat curry and momos that leave you wanting more – it's fresh, flavoursome, and a real treat for anyone keen on exploring new tastes.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always full of smiles and happy to chat, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting.
  • It's a fantastic spot for catching live sports on big screens with crystal-clear visuals and sound, perfect for getting together with mates over a pint.
  • Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a solid meal and a drink without it costing a fortune.
  • They've got great takeaway options, making it easy to grab some delicious food if you're not up for dining in.
Cons
  • Some folks might miss the old menu items, like pasta, after the recent remodelling – it's a bit of a shame if you're after more familiar pub grub.
  • A few dishes can be on the spicy side, which might catch you off guard if you're not expecting it, so it's worth asking about that upfront.
  • The focus on Nepalese cuisine means the choices might feel a tad limited if you're in the mood for something else entirely.

Come again after remodeling. The menu is different from the previous one. Had a rack of lamb and a mushroom rice. A beer of course. Lamb is great, it is soft and served with the home made sauce. But I miss the pasta hope it will come back at some point.

I went there yesterday for the first time. It is a Nepalese restaurant now, but still a pub. Their food is amazing. We also ordered to take away (chicken rum rum) and it was spectacular even one day after. 👌 I really recommend this place if you're in Cambridge or if you live here but you've never been here.

The pub had a seafood Weekend so we went and the food was delicious. We had a sharing platter and a couple of mains each that were very good. The mains were very good but one was quite peppery, and when we asked for it to have some cheese and cream added to perhaps take the edge off, which they did, they then gave us a free dessert of their own volition. They also have some cool retro games and there’s lots of seating and space inside and in the beer garden. The staff are really nice and it seems as though there’s a lively community and schedule of events kept regularly up to date
