About This Pub

Ah, The Corn Dolly – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot if you're after a bit of old-school charm in Bradford. From what I've gathered, they've got an absolute belter of a drinks menu, with everything from smooth house ales and guest beers to a solid lineup of ciders and spirits, so whether you're in the mood for something strong and dark or a fruity option, you're sorted. The staff really stand out too; they're dead chatty and make the place feel like a second home, which is brilliant for unwinding after a long day. And let's not forget the beer garden – it's freshly done up with plenty of seating and even heaters for those breezy nights, making it a top spot for a sunny afternoon catch-up. On the flip side, it's not without its quirks; the decor's a tad dated, with carpets that've seen their fair share of spills and that unmistakable pub whiff that might put off anyone wanting something more polished. Food-wise, it's a bit hit-and-miss, only dishing out pub grub and wood-fired pizzas on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, so if you're peckish outside those times, you might be out of luck. All in all, though, it's a gem for anyone who loves a genuine, laid-back pub experience – just go in with the right expectations, and you'll have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of real ales, ciders, and spirits – always something new to try, like their house ales from Taylor’s or guest brews that keep things exciting
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home even on a busy night
  • Lovely beer garden that's been newly renovated, perfect for soaking up the sun or chilling out with heaters for cooler evenings
  • Genuine traditional atmosphere that's cosy and relaxed, ideal for a proper pub session with mates
  • Great extras like a full-size pool table, jukebox with a cracking playlist, and events such as football gatherings that add to the fun
Cons
  • It can feel a bit worn around the edges, with that classic pub scent of stale beer and not the tidiest decor, which might not suit everyone
  • Food options are limited – hearty pub grub and pizza are only available on specific days and times, so you might need to plan ahead or grab a takeaway
  • As it's unclaimed by the owners, things like updates or improvements might not happen as quickly as you'd hope

Sometimes, you just need a proper pub. Forget your gastropubs and your craft ale temples – this is the real deal. The carpet's probably seen more spills than a brewery floor, the lingering scent of stale beer and questionable cleaning products is as much a part of the decor as the wonky framed prints. But that's the charm, isn't it? The beer's cheap, the locals are characters, and the banter flows as freely as the lukewarm lager. Also a little side note the pizzas from the little stall looked incredible; maybe next time I'll give them a go because you can't really complain when they start at £8 for an onsite pizza oven.
