About This Pub
Ah, The Commercial – it's one of those unassuming local spots in Manchester that just hits the mark for a relaxed evening. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars; they're welcoming and make you feel like a regular from the get-go, which is just what you want after a long day. The place is freshly done up, sparkling clean, and has this cosy feel that makes it perfect for chatting over a pint or watching the match on the telly. Plus, the drinks are spot on – a nice range of beers and spirits, including some fun shots that could liven up your night. Being so close to Heaton Park and the Met, it's brilliant for a quick stop after a walk or some fireworks. On the flip side, it doesn't open until 4 PM, so if you're fancying a midday drink, you might be out of luck. It can get a tad crowded during busier times, and without a website, it's a bit of a faff to get the lowdown beforehand. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers – worth popping in for a proper, no-fuss good time, as long as you plan around those opening hours.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's spotlessly clean throughout, from the bar to the toilets, which is always a plus for a cosy night out.
-
They've got a great selection of ales, spirits, and even some unique shots that you might not find everywhere else.
-
The atmosphere is just lovely – perfect for a quiet drink or catching up with mates, with TVs for the sport and a beer garden right near Heaton Park.
-
Its location is spot on, just a stone's throw from the Met and Heaton Park, making it ideal for a post-walk pint or after events.
Cons
-
It only opens from 4 PM, so it's not the best spot if you're after a lunchtime tipple or an early start.
-
The pub might get a bit busy at peak times, like during events or on sunny days in the beer garden, which could mean waiting around.
-
There's no website or online presence to speak of, so it's tricky to check the latest updates or menu before heading over.

Great little pub. Good for a quiet drink and 1 min from the Met
Newly refurbished pub good ales an spirits an drinks clean a staff friendly
First time in here and it's a lovely local pub, friendly staff, very clean throughout, TVs to watch the sport on and a beer garden outside just opposite Heaton Park. Good range of beers and some sambucas I had never heard of but were lovely as shots.
Great pub, just no reason to queue for hours on July 4th, just for a pint. You can get drunk quicker at home. Give it another month or 2 I'd say & see where we are then 🙂
Lovely barmaid very welcoming. We visited after the fireworks at heaton park. Toilets immaculate and plenty of places to sit. Very cosy 5 stars
