About This Pub

Oh, what a treat The Colby Arms is – it's one of those classic London pubs that just draws you in with its warm, rustic charm and that genuine sense of community. From the moment you step inside, you're met with smiles from the staff and a buzzing atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding after a long day. I love how they've got all the sports covered, so if you're into football, rugby, or cricket, this is your spot to cheer on the teams with a pint in hand. The events like Killer Pool on Tuesdays and the Monday Club really add to the fun, making it easy to strike up chats with fellow visitors. And let's not forget the drinks – they've a smashing selection of beers, wines, and spirits, with some wallet-friendly offers that make it feel accessible. But, it's not all roses; I've heard a tale or two about hygiene not being top-notch in places, and while most prices are fair, that £6 for a small Coke does sting a bit. Plus, if you're after a proper meal, you'll need to venture elsewhere, though grabbing an Indian from next door isn't a bad plan B. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with your eyes open to the little niggles, and you'll have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Prices are generally spot on for a local spot, with pints like Guinness coming in at a reasonable £5, which is a bargain these days.
  • It's a fantastic place for catching all the big sports events, with Sky Sports, BT Sport, and more on offer – perfect for a lively match day.
  • They've got fun events like Killer Pool every Tuesday and a popular Monday Club, adding a bit of excitement to the week.
  • The drink selection is brilliant, with a wide range of lagers, craft ales, wines, and spirits, including some cracking seasonal specials.
  • Its location right next to Gypsy Hill station makes it super convenient for a quick pint after work or on the way home.
Cons
  • There have been a few reports of hygiene slips, like a barman handling garnishes with bare hands, which isn't ideal.
  • Some drinks can feel a bit steep, such as a small Coke at £6, which might put off those watching their wallet.
  • They don't serve food on site, so you'll have to pop next door for something to munch on if you're peckish.

The first time I came here I ordered a ginger ale and fruit juice. I requested a slice of lime and the barman picked a slice up with his fingers at squeezed the lime into the drink. After this I decided to drink a coca cola, the price of a 330ml is £6, a higher cost than one of the pints that they hold so dear to a cheap price. Nice enough pub despite all this, jukebox is okay and there is a pool table
