About This Pub
Ah, the Royal Albert – it's one of those hidden gems in London that reminds you of the good old days of pubs, where you can just kick back with a mate and enjoy a straightforward pint without all the fuss. From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got this lovely, unpretentious atmosphere that's calm and cosy, with subtle art deco touches that add a bit of character without going overboard. The landlord seems like a top bloke, always up for a chat and serving up pints that hit the spot, like that Timothy Taylor Landlord that's been raved about. And let's not forget, they've kept things real with well-priced beers and a selection of ales that make it feel like a proper locals' haunt. But, and I say this as a mate who's been around a few pubs myself, the prices can sting a bit – it's a shame because it takes away from that traditional appeal when you're paying gastropub rates for a basic drink. Still, if you're after a quiet spot to unwind, it's worth a visit, though you might want to plan around it if you're watching the pennies. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, with more highs than lows, but just keep those expectations in check for a true no-frills experience.

Cons
-
Drinks can be a bit pricey, which feels out of place for a no-frills pub and might make you think twice before popping in regularly.

-
Some folks have mentioned it losing its unique edge, which could leave you wanting something a tad more distinctive.

I dislike all the other pubs on the triangle because they are too poncey, this is not poncey at all. It's a traditional, no frills boozer. So it's a big shame that the price of drinks is just as expensive as all the nearby gastropubs. This means it loses its USP so I'm going to have to swerve it in future.
The welcoming landlord served me a lovely pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Comfortable and friendly pub. Beautifully kept with traditional styling.
I loved it, calm, cosy and quaintly set up.
I've been to places, real public houses where no dog it human is left out. I looked After the star guestcwho insisted at only 5 mths Tiger Lilly please can you give mummy a break, she's doing my head in...ok .that was it. Mum chilled stopped at everyone.

Really good, old school pub.
No pretence, no nobs, no shoreditch type helmets. A locals pub it seems, subtle art deco styling inside. Hasn't been refurbished in years and all the better for it. Well priced beers too, a few ales on tap and the regular lagers.
Went in on a random Tuesday, they had an open mic poetry night on. Actual people speaking, listening and not engrossed in their phones
When I speak to people about pubs in Crystal Palace this watering hole never comes up in conversation and I was on my way to another boozer up in Gipsy Hill.
As I walked up Westow Hill I glanced across the road and locked eyes on the Royal Albert and I thought to myself; that pub has got qualities that delight the eye so I popped in and treated myself to a pint of timothy Taylor’s brewery.
As expected it was friendly locals pub with a couple of screens dotted around for the football and I even had a lovely chat with one of the locals while I enjoyed my pint.
Moral of the story don’t be afraid to try somewhere new!!
