About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Coach & Horses – it's one of those pubs in Gloucester that just feels like a proper local gem. From the reviews I've seen, the atmosphere is brilliant; it's all about that warm, welcoming vibe where you can relax with a pint and chat away. The beers are fairly priced, which is always a plus, and that massive pub garden is a real highlight – imagine soaking up the sun with a cold one in hand on a nice day. The staff come across as genuinely lovely, and when it's not too mad, everything runs smoothly. But, and I have to be straight with you, it does have its downsides; during big events like rugby matches, the service can slow right down, with some people waiting 20 minutes and ending up heading off without a drink. Still, with an overall rating of 4.2, it's clear most folks have a good time here. If you're popping in, I'd say go for a quieter afternoon or evening to make the most of it, but it's definitely worth checking out for a solid night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is spot on – it's friendly and welcoming, making it a great spot for a catch-up with mates after a match or just a casual evening.
  • Beers are reasonably priced, so you won't have to worry about breaking the bank while enjoying a pint.
  • They've got a massive pub garden that's an absolute treat on a sunny afternoon – can't beat sipping a drink outdoors.
  • The staff are really nice and helpful, and when it's not too busy, the service is quick and cheerful.
  • There's often great music playing, which adds to the fun vibe, perfect for dancing and having a laugh with friends.
Cons
  • Service can get a bit stretched during busy times, like on match days, where you might end up waiting ages to get served.
  • It can feel a tad overwhelming when it's packed, and some folks have mentioned leaving without a drink due to the queues.

A really nice pub let down by lack of service. It was a rugby game day so it was really busy. But only two members of staff on the bar. We waited 20 mins and ended up leaving without having a drink as wasn't close to being served.

Lovely pub. We came here for a few drinks before the rugby and really enhoyed ourselves. Everyone was really friendly. The service was quick and beers were a reasonable price. They also have a massive pub garden whichbwas really nice. Cant beat a pub garden with a beer on a sunny afternoon. This is one for checking out. 😁
